YMCA Kite Festival 2025

The YMCA Pamunugama held its annual Kite Festival 2025 under the theme “Smiling Together, Flying Together” on 07 September at Sarakkuwa Beach, Kepungoda. The event drew a lively crowd of around 1,000 people from the village and nearby areas, filling the sky with more than 130 colorful kites.

The festival was organized by the youth of YMCA Pamunugama and welcomed participants of all ages, including families and children. The Officer-in-Charge of Dungalpitiya Police, along with Grama Niladhari and Economic Development Officers from Kepungoda and Seththappaduwa, joined as special guests and also assisted in judging.

Winners received cash prizes of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 for first, second and third places, along with certificates. Consolation prizes were also given to encourage more participants. Children from Makalause Dream School took part as well, adding to the inclusiveness of the festival.

Event is meant not only to bring joy but also to strengthen unity and harmony in the community. The Kite Festival has now become a much-loved annual event that brings people together under one sky.
