පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය ලෝක YMCA YWCA යැදුම් සතිය සමරයි

ලොව පුර YMCA සහ YWCA යන සංවිධාන ලෝක යාච්ඤා සතිය නොවැම්බර් 11 සිට 18 දක්වා සමරනු ලැබුවේ "බීජයේ සිට පීදීම දක්වා: බලාපොරොත්තුව සහ ආදරයෙන් පෝෂනය කිරීම" යන තේමාව කේන්ද්‍ර කරගනිම්නි.

මීට සමගාමීව අමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයද විශේෂ හමුවක් නොවැ. 18 උදෑසන වරුවේ  පවත්වන ලදි. වැඩසටහන් ආරම්භ වූයේ ප්‍රදේශයයේ පවතින වැදගත් තෙත් බිමක් වන මුතුරාජවෙල පිළිබඳ දැනුවත් වීමෙනි. එහි සංරක්ෂණය වෙනුවෙන් කැපවී කටයුතු කරණ දිනූෂ නානායක්කාර මහතා විසින් එම දැනුවත් කිරීම සිදු කරන ලදි.

ඉන් අනතුරුව ගරු සරත් ඉද්දමල්ගොඩ පියතුමා විසින් කිතුනුවන් වශයෙන් ස්වභාවධර්මය රැකගැනීමේ වගකීම අවධාරණය කරමින් විශේෂ මෙහෙයක් පවත්වන ලදී.  බාලදක්ෂ කණ්ඩායම, තරුණ හවුල ඇතුළු සාමාජිකයින් 45 ක් පමණ මෙම වැඩසටහන සඳහා එක් වූහ.

YMCA වෙනුවෙන් සහ ස්වභාවධර්මය ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේදී අප එකිනෙකා වෙනුවෙන් පැවරී ඇති කාර්යය වෙනුවෙන් මෙහිදී එක්ව යදින ලදි. මෙම වැඩසටහන පරිසරය සුරැකීම සඳහා වන අපගේ සාමූහික වගකීම පිළිබඳ අර්ථවත් මතක් කිරීමක් විය.

YMCA YWCA World Week of Prayer Event

YMCA of Pamunugama celebrated the YMCA YWCA World Week of Prayer on November 18th with a special event centered around the theme "From Seed to Blossom: Cultivating Hope and Love."

The day began with an enlightening discussion about Muthurajawela, an important nearby wetland, led by Mr. Dinusha Nanayakkara, a passionate activist dedicated to its conservation.

Following this, Rev. Sarath Iddamalgoda led a service emphasizing our responsibility as Christians to care for nature. Around 45 members, including scout groups and youth clubs, joined in for this insightful event.

Together, we prayed for YMCA and its crucial role in protecting nature. It was a meaningful reminder of our collective duty to safeguard the environment. Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing efforts to protect nature.

ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජභාවය මත පදනම් වූ හිංසනය පිටුදකිමු

ශ්‍රී ලංකාව තුළ එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ජන ජනගහන අරමුදල සහ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවේ මැදිහත්වීමෙන් රට පුරා විහිද පවතින තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් 10 ක නියෝජිතයින් 35 දෙනෙකු හට ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජ සමාජභාවය මත පදනම් වූ හිංසනය පිටු පිටුදැකීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් දෙදින වැඩමුළුවක් නොවැම්බර් මස් 15 සහ 16 යන දිනයන් හි දී කොළඹ Court Yard හෝටලයේ දී පැවැත්විණ. 

ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජ සමාජභාවය යන සංකල්පය තේරුම් ගැනීම, ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජ සමාජභාවය මත පදනම් වූ ප්‍රචණ්ඩත්වයත්වයට හේතු වන සහ ඒවා පෝෂණය වන සාධක හා හඳුනාගැනීම, එවැනි ප්‍රචණ්ඩ ප්‍රචණ්ඩත්වයන් විශ්ලේෂණය කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය වන න්‍යායික දැනුම ලබා දීම යන කරුණු පදනම් කරගනිමින් දෙදින පුහුණු වැඩමුළුව පැවැත්විණ.

වැඩමුළුව අවසානයේයේ දී සහභාගිවූ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් නියෝජනයට කරන ලද දිස්ත්‍රික් අනුව ඉදිරි වසර සඳහා ප්‍රායෝගික වැඩ සැලැස්මක් සැකසීම ද මෙහි දී සිදු වූ අතර එම් වැඩපිළිවෙල එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ජනගහන අරමුදල හා සම්බන්ධ ඉදිරි වසර වැඩ සැලැස්මට අන්තර්ගත කරගැනීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය වන කරුණු සිදු කිරීමට ද එකඟ විය. 

UNFPA & National YMCA Workshop: Empowering Communities Against Gender-Based Violence

The UN Population Fund and National Council of  YMCAs in Sri Lanka teamed up for a fruitful workshop fighting Gender-Based Violence. Held at Hotel Courtyard in Colombo on November 15-16, it gathered 35 members from 10 local YMCAs, including Pamunugama YMCA.

Key Insights:

The workshop's sessions were designed to empower participants with a deep understanding of GBV:

• Understanding Sex and Gender: Delving into the distinctions between sex and gender proved pivotal in addressing the root causes of GBV.
• Deconstructing Gender-Based Violence: Participants gained a comprehensive view of the multifaceted nature and diverse forms of GBV, shedding much-needed light on this pervasive issue.
• Analytical Tool - Gender-Based Violence Tree: The innovative Gender-Based Violence Tree tool equipped attendees with effective analytical skills to dissect instances of GBV, identifying underlying causes and ramifications.
• 
  Identifying Vulnerable Communities: Discussions focused on recognizing and addressing vulnerabilities within communities, a crucial step in preventing GBVs.
• Strategies for Prevention: The sessions were replete with strategies and methodologies aimed at preventing GBVs, empowering participants with practical tools to effect change.

Action Plan and Collaboration with UNFPA: 

A pivotal outcome of the workshop was the formulation of a targeted action plan. participants actively contributed to crafting a plan designed for implementation at the local YMCA levels. This plan serves as a catalyst for change and aims to promote a safer environment within the community.

Excitingly, the UNFPA has committed to evaluating these action plans and incorporating them into their annual strategies. Furthermore, a collaborative effort between UNFPA and YMCA has been agreed upon for the upcoming year of 2024, signifying a unified front in combating GBV.

At Pamunugama YMCA, our steadfast belief in the power of education, awareness, and collective action to eradicate Gender-Based Violence remains unwavering. Together, let's pave the way for a world where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered.

කිරිගල්පොත්තට ගිය ජාතික සභා තරුණ පා ගමන

ශ්‍රී ලංකා තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවේ තරුණ කමිටුව මගින් සං සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබූ පාගමන නොවැම්බර් මස 10 - 12 යන දිනයන් හිහි දී පැවැත්විණ. රට වටා පිහිටි තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් නියෝජනයට කරමින් තරුණ තරුණියන් 21 දෙනෙකු සහ නායකයින් 5 දෙනෙකු මෙම පා ගමන සඳහා සම්බන්ධ විය. නොවැම්බර් දස වන දින කණ්ඩායම රාත්‍රී තැපැල් දුම්රියෙන් ඔහිය වෙත ළඟා වූ අතර එකොළොස් වන දින කිරි ගල් කිරිගල්පොත්ත තරණය කිරීම සඳහා හෝර්ටන් තැන්න වෙත ගමන් කරන ලදී. 

හෝර්ටන් තැන්න පරිසර  කලාපයේ සුන්දරත්වය විඳිමින් දවස පුරා කිරි ගල් කිරිගල්පොත්ත තරණයේ යෙදින. මෙය තරමක් ත්‍රාසය ත්‍රාස්‍යජනක මෙන්ම ඉතා සුන්දර පරිසර අත්දැකීම්ක් විය. මෙම ගමන සඳහා පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය නියෝජනය කරමින් තරුණ තරුණියන් තිදෙනකු සහ කාර්යමණ්ඩලයේ සාමාජිකාවක් සම්බන්ධ විය. ඉතා වෙහෙසකර මෙන්ම සොඳුරු ගමනක අවසානයේ විඩාව නිවා ගනිමින් එදින රාත්‍රිය ඔහිය පුහුණු මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ දී ගත කරන ලදී. පසු දින රාත්‍රී තැපැල් දුම්රියෙන් කණ්ඩායම නැවතත් තම නිවෙස් බලා පිටත් විය.

A Thrilling Adventure: NCY Youth Hike to Kirigalpoththa

The National Youth Committee of the National Council of YMCAs of Sri Lanka organized an hike, bringing together 21 enthusiastic youth and 5 dedicated leaders form YMCAs around the country. The adventure unfolded as travelled on a night journey to Ohiya via the Night Mail Train on the 10th Nov.

On the 11th, the group entered into the breathtaking Hortan Plains, to start their hike to Kirigalpoththa, the second-highest mountain in Sri Lanka. The hike covered a total distance of approximately 15 kilometers, promising both challenge and reward for the participants.

Notably, three youth members and a staff representative from Pamunugama joined the expedition, adding to the sense of camaraderie and shared experience. The lush landscapes of the Hortan Plains provided a perfect backdrop for the journey, allowing the participants to connect themselves in the beauty of nature.

The group found accommodation at the Ohiya Training Center, which served as a comfortable base for rest and reflection. The evening of the 12th marked their return, once again via the Night Mail Train, concluding the adventure with a sense of accomplishment and memories to cherish.
