Empowering Communities: Training on the Right to Information and Mediation

The Pamunugama YMCA, in collaboration with World Vision, hosted a training workshop as part of their ongoing "Social Dialogue for Conflict Prevention and Peace" project. Held on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the YMCA of Pamunugama hall, the training brought together community members from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the goal of strengthening grassroots advocacy and mediation skills.

The workshop was structured into two sessions. In the first, Additional District Secretary Mr. Sugath Kithsiri provided a clear, accessible breakdown of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, showing participants how to effectively use the law to advocate for their communities. This was followed by a session led by trainer Mr. Aruna Shantha Nonis, in Advocacy. He focused on the different types of advocacy and the practical steps one should take to intervene constructively to resolve social problems.

A total of 55 people attended, including members of the Pamunugama YMCA, local residents and a community groups from the Wattala area affiliated with World Vision. 

By the end of the day, the feedback was positive. Participants emphasized that the training was timely and practical. Several expressed that the knowledge they gained would be essential for their future social work, particularly when stepping in to help resolve local issues. 

තොරතුරු දැනගැනීමේ පනත සහ මැදිහත්කරණය පිළිබඳ පුහුණු වැඩසටහන

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය විසින් වර්ල්ඩ් විශන් (World Vision) ආයතනය සමඟ එක්ව "ගැටුම් වැළැක්වීම සහ සාමය සඳහා වන සමාජ කතිකාවත" යන ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ පුහුණු වැඩසටහනක් පසුගියදා සාර්ථකව පවත්වනු ලැබීය. 2026 ජුනි මස 21 වන ඉරුදින සෙත්තප්පඩුව YMCA ශාලාවේදී පෙ.ව. 9.15 සිට ප.ව. 1.30 දක්වා පැවති මෙම වැඩසටහන, ප්‍රජා මට්ටමින් තොරතුරු දැනගැනීමේ අයිතිය තහවුරු කිරීමට සහ ගැටුම් නිරාකරණය සඳහා මැදිහත්කරුවන් සවිබල ගැන්වීමේ අරමුණින් සංවිධානය කෙරිණි.

මෙම වැඩසටහන කෙටි සැසි දෙකකින් සමන්විත විය. එහි පළමු සැසියේදී අතිරේක දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් සුගත් කිත්සිරි මහතා විසින් තොරතුරු දැනගැනීමේ පනතේ වැදගත්කම සහ එය ප්‍රජාවගේ අවශ්‍යතා සඳහා භාවිතා කරන ආකාරය පිළිබඳව පැහැදිලි අවබෝධයක් ලබා දෙන ලදී. දෙවන සැසියේදී පුහුණු උපදේශක අරුණ ශාන්ත නෝනිස් මහතා විසින් ලබාගත් තොරතුරු මත පදනම්ව යම් සමාජ ගැටළුවකට මැදිහත් වීමේදී අනුගමනය කළ යුතු ක්‍රමවේදයන්, මැදිහත්කරණයේ විවිධ වර්ග සහ ඒවා කාර්යක්ෂමව සිදු කරන ආකාරය පිළිබඳව සහභාගිවන්නන් දැනුවත් කරන ලදී.

මෙම වැඩසටහන සඳහා පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන්, ගම්වාසීන් සහ වර්ල්ඩ් විශන් ආයතනය හා සම්බන්ධ වත්තල ප්‍රදේශයේ ප්‍රජා කණ්ඩායම් ඇතුළු විවිධ සංවිධාන නියෝජනය කරමින් 55 දෙනෙකු සහභාගී වූහ. විවිධ පාර්ශ්වයන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වය මෙම වැඩසටහන වඩාත් අර්ථවත් කිරීමට බෙහෙවින් ඉවහල් විය.

වැඩසටහන අවසානයේ සහභාගිවන්නන් සාකච්ඡා කළ විෂයයන් අතිශයින්ම කාලීන සහ ප්‍රයෝජනවත් බව අගය කළහ. ලබාගත් දැනුම සිය ඉදිරි සමාජ කටයුතු සහ ප්‍රජා ගැටළු විසඳීමේදී මැදිහත්කරුවන් ලෙස කටයුතු කිරීමේදී ඉතා වැදගත් වනු ඇතැයි ඔවුන් වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියහ. ප්‍රජාව සවිබල ගැන්වීම සහ සාමකාමී සමාජයක් ගොඩනැගීම උදෙසා පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය ගන්නා මෙම උත්සාහය තවත් එක් සුවිශේෂී පියවරක් ලෙස සනිටුහන් විය.

'Laudato Si' (වේ ප්‍රශංසා) - මිහිතලය රැකගැනීම සඳහා වන කිතුනු කැඳවීම

2015 වසරේදී ශුද්ධෝත්තම ප්‍රැන්සිස් පාප්තුමන් විසින් නිකුත් කරන ලද 'Laudato Si'' (වේ ප්‍රශංසා) යනු, අපගේ පොදු නිවහන වන මිහිතලය රැකබලා ගැනීම පිළිබඳව ලියැවුණු සුවිශේෂී විශ්ව ලේඛනයකි (Encyclical). 

විශ්ව ලේඛනයක් යනු කතෝලික සභාවේ ප්‍රධානියා වන පාප්තුමන් විසින් ලොව පුරා විසිරී සිටින රදගුරු වරුන්, පූජක පක්ෂය සහ සමස්ත ඇදහිලිවන්තයන් වෙත යොමු කරනු ලබන මඟ පෙන්වීමකි. මෙවැනි ලේඛන සභාවේ මූලික ඉගැන්වීම්, සමාජීය ගැටලු සහ සදාචාරාත්මක අභියෝග හමුවේ ක්‍රියා කළ යුතු ආකාරය පිළිබඳව ජනතාව දැනුවත් කරයි.

'Laudato Si'' (වේ ප්‍රශංසා) මෙම ලේඛනය පරිච්ඡේද හයකින් සමන්විත වේ:

1. අපගේ පොදු නිවහන වන පරිසරයට සිදුවන දේ: පාරිසරික අර්බුදයේ වත්මන් තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව විග්‍රහ කිරීම.

2. මැවීමේ ශුභාරංචිය: මැවීම පිළිබඳ බයිබලීය දැක්ම ගවේෂණය කිරීම.

3. පාරිසරික අර්බුදයේ මනුෂ්‍ය සබඳතා: මිනිසාගේ ආකල්ප සහ තාක්ෂණික දියුණුවේ බලපෑම පැහැදිලි කිරීම.

4. සමස්ත පරිසර විද්‍යාව: ජීවිතයේ පාරිසරික, ආර්ථික, සමාජීය සහ සංස්කෘතික අංශ එකිනෙකට සම්බන්ධ කරන "සමස්ත පරිසර විද්‍යාවක්" (Integral ecology) පිළිබඳව සංවාදයට බඳුන් කිරීම.

5. සංවාදය සහ ක්‍රියාමාර්ග: පාරිසරික ගැටලු සඳහා ගෝලීය වශයෙන් ගත යුතු පියවර යෝජනා කිරීම.

6. පාරිසරික අධ්‍යාපනය සහ අධ්‍යාත්මිකත්වය: තිරසාර ජීවන රටාවකට හැඩගැසීම සඳහා කිතුණු සභාවට අභියෝග කිරීම.

මෙවැනි ඉගැන්වීම ජනගත නොවන්නේ මන්ද? 'Laudato Si'' ඉදිරිපත් කර වසර ගණනාවක් ගතවී ඇතත්, එය තවමත් බිම් මට්ටමේ කිතුණු ජනතාවගේ ජීවන දර්ශනයක් බවට පත් වී නොමැත. බොහෝ විට මෙවැනි ලේඛන හුදු ශාස්ත්‍රීය ලේඛන ලෙස පමණක් හඳුනා ගැනීම නිසා, ඒවායේ හරය ඉහළ සිට පහළට ප්‍රායෝගිකව ගලා නොයයි.

අධික පරිභෝජනය වැනි තත්ත්වයන් 'වේ ප්‍රශංසා' ලේඛනය විසින් ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කරයි. එහෙත්, දේවස්ථාන ආශ්‍රිත උත්සව සහ මංගල්‍ය වෙනුවෙන් සිදු කරන අනවශ්‍ය වියදම් සහ භෞතිකවාදී සැරසිලිවල අඩුවක් නොමැත. සැරසිලි සඳහා තවමත් පොලිතීන් සහ ප්ලාස්ටික් භාවිතය සිදුවන්නේ අපගේ පාරිසරික දැනුවත්භාවයේ ඇති මඳ බව මනාව පිළිබිඹු කරමිනි. උස් හඬින් දේශනා සහ යාඥා විකාශය කරන ශබ්ද විකාශන යන්ත්‍ර මගින් අසල්වැසියාට සිදු කරන බාධා, 'වේ ප්‍රශංසා' ලේඛනයෙන් අපේක්ෂා කරන යහපත් සබඳතාවලට පටහැනි වේ.

මෙවැනි ක්‍රියා මැවිල්ලට එරෙහි ක්‍රියාවන් බව පිළිගැනීමට ඇති අකමැත්ත හෝ ඒ පිළිබඳ පියතුමන්ලා ජනතාව දැනුවත් නොකිරීම, සභාව තුළ පවතින නිහඬ අර්බුදයකි. තැනින් තැන පවත්වන කෙටි වැඩසටහන් හෝ සංකේතාත්මක ගස් සිටුවීම්වලින් පමණක් පෘථිවිය රැකගත නොහැකි බව සභා නායකත්වය වටහා ගත යුතුය. අවශ්‍ය වන්නේ පුළුල් ජීවන රටා වෙනසක් උදෙසා ගෙනයන සක්‍රීය අධ්‍යාත්මික නායකත්වයකි. කෙසේ වෙතත්, වර්තමානයේ එවැනි සූදානමක් ප්‍රමාණවත් මට්ටමක පවතින බවක් පෙනෙන්නට නැත.

'Laudato Si'' යනු පාප්තුමාට පමණක් සීමා වූ ලේඛනයක් නොව, මිහිතලය මත වෙසෙන සියලුම මනුෂ්‍යයන් වෙනුවෙන් නිකුත් කළ කැඳවුමකි. එබැවින්, සභාවේ පැවිදි නායකත්වයේ මඟ පෙන්වීම එනතුරු බලා නොසිට, ගිහියන් ලෙස අප මෙම කාර්යභාරය අතට ගත යුතුය.

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය ලෙස, අපි අපගේ තරුණ කණ්ඩායම සමඟ එක්ව මේ පිළිබඳ ගැඹුරු සංවාදයක නිරත වී සිටිමු. තිරසාර ලෝකයක් පිළිබඳ සිහින දකින සංවිධානයක් වශයෙන්, අපි දැනටමත් අපගේ සාමාජිකත්වය සමඟ එක්ව අවට පාරිසරික අර්බුද සඳහා ධනාත්මක විසඳුම් සෙවීමට වැඩ කරමින් සිටින්නෙමු. අපගේ අත්දැකීම් සහ දැනුම අනෙක් සියලුම දෙනා සමඟ බෙදා ගැනීමට අපි සූදානමින් සිටිමු. මෙම උතුම් අරමුණ ඉටු කර ගැනීමට ඔබත් අප සමඟ එක්වන ලෙස අපි ආරාධනා කරමු.

"ලඔඩාටෝ සී (Laudato Si) - අපගේ පොදු නිවහන රැකගැනීම" පිළිබඳ තරුණ සංවාදය

2026 ජුනි 16 වන දින, පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේදී ලඔඩාටෝ සී (Laudato Si) විශ්ව ලේඛනය කේන්ද්‍ර කරගත් තරුණ සංවාදයක් පවත්වන ලදී. වර්ල්ඩ් විෂන් (World Vision) ආයතනය සමඟ එක්ව සංවිධානය කරන ලද මෙම වැඩසටහනේදී පරිසරය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම පිළිබඳ කිතුණු දැක්ම අවධාරණය කළ අතර, ඒ සඳහා තරුණ තරුණියන් 15 දෙනෙකු සහභාගී විය.

ඇක්වයිනාස් උසස් අධ්‍යාපන ආයතනයේ කථිකාචාර්ය සඳුනි මහේශා මහත්මිය විසින් මෙම වැඩසටහන මෙහෙයවන ලද අතර, ඇය විසින් මෙම ලේඛනයේ පසුබිම පිළිබඳ පුළුල් පැහැදිලි කිරීමක් සිදු කරන ලදී. ලඔඩාටෝ සී යනු පරිසරය සම්බන්ධයෙන් මඟ පෙන්වීම සඳහා පාප් වහන්සේ විසින් නිකුත් කරනු ලබන ප්‍රධාන ඉගැන්වීම් ලේඛනයක් (Encyclical) බව මෙහිදී පැහැදිලි කෙරිණි. පරිසරය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා ගෝලීය සහයෝගීතාවයේ අවශ්‍යතාවය පිළිබඳව මෙම ලේඛනය මගින් අවධාරණය කෙරෙන ආකාරය ද සාකච්ඡා විය. මෙම වැඩසටහනේ ප්‍රධාන අංගයක් ලෙස විශ්ව ලේඛනයේ පරිච්ඡේද හය පිළිබඳව හැඳින්වීමක් සිදු කරන ලදී:

• පළමු පරිච්ඡේදය: දූෂණය, දේශගුණික විපර්යාස සහ ජෛව විවිධත්වය අඩුවීම වැනි අපගේ පොදු නිවහනට සිදුවෙමින් පවතින දේ පිළිබඳව විමසා බලයි.

• සිව්වන පරිච්ඡේදය: ජීවිතයේ පාරිසරික, ආර්ථික, සමාජීය සහ සංස්කෘතික අංශ එකිනෙකට සම්බන්ධ කරන "සමස්ත පරිසර විද්‍යාවක්" (Integral ecology) යෝජනා කරයි.

• පස්වන පරිච්ඡේදය: පාරිසරික ගැටුම් විසඳීම සඳහා සංවාදය භාවිතා කළ හැකි ආකාරය පිළිබඳව ප්‍රවේශයන් සහ ක්‍රියාමාර්ග සාකච්ඡා කරයි.

• 
  හයවන පරිච්ඡේදය: ජීවන රටාව සහ පරිභෝජනය වෙනස් කිරීම දිරිමත් කරමින් පාරිසරික අධ්‍යාපනය සහ අධ්‍යාත්මිකත්වය ඉස්මතු කරයි.

මෙම සංවාදය අඛණ්ඩව ඉදිරියට ගෙන යාමේ අරමුණින් අවසන් විය. සම වයසේ තරුණ තරුණියන් දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා ෆේස්බුක් (Facebook) පෝස්ට් මාලාවක් නිර්මාණය කිරීමටත්, දේවස්ථානය හරහා මෙම තොරතුරු බෙදා හැරීමේ හැකියාව පිළිබඳව සොයා බැලීමටත් කණ්ඩායම තීරණය කෙරන ලදි.

Youth Dialogue on "Laudato Si’ – Care for Our Common Home"

On June 16, 2026, a youth dialogue centered on the encyclical Laudato Si’ was successfully conducted at the YMCA of Pamunugama. Organized in partnership with World Vision, the session focused on the Christian vision for environmental protection and drew the participation of 15 young individuals.

The presentation, delivered by Ms. Sanduni Mahesha, a lecturer at Aquinas College of Higher Studies, provided a comprehensive overview of the background of the document. It was explained that Laudato Si’ is an encyclical, which serves as a major teaching document issued by the Pope to provide guidance on significant moral and social issues. 

The session highlighted the document's origins, detailing how it addresses the urgent need for global solidarity in protecting the environment. A central component of the session was the introduction of the encyclical's six chapters:

• Chapter 1 addresses what is happening to our common home, specifically regarding pollution, climate change, and the loss of biodiversity.

• Chapter 2 explores the Gospel of creation, emphasizing the biblical perspective on the responsibility of humans toward nature.

• Chapter 3 examines the human roots of the ecological crisis, focusing on technology, anthropocentrism, and the current economic model.

• Chapter 4 proposes an "integral ecology" that connects environmental, economic, social, and cultural aspects of life.

• 
  Chapter 5 discusses lines of approach and action, suggesting how dialogue can be used to resolve environmental conflicts.

• Chapter 6 highlights ecological education and spirituality, encouraging a transformation in lifestyle and consumption.

The dialogue concluded with a commitment to continue to raise awareness among peers through a series of educational Facebook posts, and further agreed to explore the possibility of disseminating this information through the parish church.

‘Playground Builders 10.0’ මඟින් දරුවන්ට නව ක්‍රීඩා පරිසරයක්

‘Playground Builders 10.0’ ව්‍යාපෘතිය සාර්ථකව නිම කරමින් 2026 ජූනි 12 වන දින සිය නව ක්‍රීඩාංගණය විවෘත කරන ලදී. මීගමුව තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ සම්බන්ධීකරණයෙන් ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා හොංකොං හී චීන YMCA නියෝජනය කළ තරුණ ස්වේච්ඡා සේවකයන් 12 දෙනෙකු සහ නායකයන් දෙදෙනෙකු සහභාගී වූහ. පමුණුගම සහ මීගමුව YMCA සංගම්වල ස්වේච්ඡා සේවකයන්ගේ ද සහයෝගය ඇතිව ජූනි 7 සිට 10 දක්වා කාලය තුළ මොවුන් ප්‍රජාවේ දරුවන් වෙනුවෙන් මෙම ක්‍රීඩා පහසුකම් ඉදිකරන ලදී.

මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය යටතේ සීසෝවක්(seesaw), ලීයෙන් කළ සෙල්ලම් ජීප් රථයක්, සහ ලී පාලමක් YMCA පරිශ්‍රයේ ස්ථාපනය කර ඇත. මෙමගින් දරුවන්ට එළිමහනේ සෙල්ලම් කිරීමට සහ මිතුරන් සමඟ කාලය ගත කිරීමට විනෝදජනක පරිසරයක් නිර්මාණය වී තිබේ. එසේම, මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය හරහා විදේශීය ස්වේච්ඡා සේවකයන් සංගමයේ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් අතර මිත්‍රත්වය සහ සංස්කෘතික හුවමාරුව සඳහා ද අවස්ථාව උදා විය.

Playground Builders 10.0 Creates Lasting Gift for Children of Pamunugama

The YMCA of Pamunugama celebrated the opening of its new playground on 12 June 2026, marking the successful completion of Playground Builders 10.0. The project was facilitated by the YMCA of Negombo and brought together 12 youth volunteers and 2 leaders from the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong, with support from volunteers of the YMCA of Pamunugama and the YMCA of Negombo. The volunteers worked on the project from 7 to 10 June, building new play facilities for the children of the community.

As part of the project, a seesaw, a wooden toy car, and a wooden bridge were installed at the YMCA premises. These additions have created a fun and welcoming space where children can enjoy outdoor play and spend time with their friends. The project also provided an opportunity for friendship, learning, and cultural exchange between the visiting volunteers and the local YMCA community.

The opening ceremony was attended by around 60 people, including volunteers from Hong Kong, board members, youth members, scouts, children, and community members of the YMCA of Pamunugama. Following the opening, children enjoyed playing on the new playground equipment and took part in indoor activities with the Hong Kong volunteers, making the day a memorable one for everyone involved.

During the ceremony, tokens of appreciation were presented to the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong and the YMCA of Negombo in recognition of their support and partnership. The YMCA of Pamunugama is grateful to all those who contributed to the success of Playground Builders 10.0 and helped create a lasting gift for the children of the community.

182 වන YMCA නිර්මාතෘ දින සැමරුම

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය 2026 ජූනි 06 වන දිනට යෙදුණු 182 වන YMCA දිනය සමරනු ලැබීය. මෙම අවස්ථාව සඳහා බාලදක්ෂ බාලදක්ශිකාවන් 28 දෙනෙකු, මාකලෝසා සිහිනය මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ දරුවන් 9 දෙනෙකු මෙන්ම අපගේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ මණ්ඩල සාමාජිකයින් සහ තරුණ පිරිස ඇතුළු 55 දෙනෙකු උද්යෝගයෙන් එක්වූහ. සැමදෙනා එකම අරමුණකින් යුතුව එක්රොක් වූ මෙම අවස්ථාව, එකිනෙකා අතර පවතින බැඳීම සහ සමාජ සේවයට ඇති කැපවීම මනාව විදහා දැක්වීය.

උත්සවයේ සමාරම්භය සනිටුහන් වූයේ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ දියුණුව, ලෝක සාමය සහ දරුවන්ගේ අභිවෘද්ධිය ප්‍රාර්ථනා කරමින් පැවති විශේෂ යාඥා සැසියෙනි. ශතවර්ෂ දෙකකට ආසන්න කාලයක් පුරා ලෝකය පුරා තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය මඟින් සිදු කරන මෙහෙවර මෙහිදී සිහිපත් කෙළ අතර මෙතෙක් ආ ගමන වෙනුවෙන් දෙවිපියාණන් හට ප්‍රශංසා පුද කරන ලදි. 

මීලඟට දිනයේ විශේෂාංගයක් ලෙස "YMCA යනු මට කුමක්ද?" යන තේමාව ඔස්සේ පෝස්ටරයක් කණ්ඩායම් ක්‍රියාකාරකමක් ලෙස සිදු කරන ලදි. අනතුරුව YMCA හි මූලික හරය වන 'පැරිස් පදනම' (Paris Basis) ලේඛනයට සියලු සහභාගීවන්නන් සිය අත්සන තබමින්, අපගේ පොදු මෙහෙවර ඉදිරියටත් නොපසුබටව ඉටු කරන බවට ප්‍රතිඥා දුන් අතර 122 වන උපන්දිනය සමරමින් අලංකාරවත් කේක් එකක් කපා සංග්‍රහයක් බුක්තිවිඳ වැඩසටහන නිමා කෙරින. 

Celebrating 182 Years of YMCA Impact in Pamunugama

The YMCA of Pamunugama marked the 182nd YMCA Founder’s Day on June 6, 2026. A diverse group of 28 scouts, nine wonderful participants from Makalause Dream, and several of our board and youth members attended this celebration. Seeing everyone gathered together underscored the very heart of the movement: building a space where everyone belongs and can serve their community side-by-side.

Event started with a shared prayer session, focusing our thoughts on the YMCA movement, global peace, and the wellbeing of children. It was a grounding start to the day, reminding us all of the values that have held the YMCA together for nearly two centuries.

After the prayer, we held an inclusive workshop where youth and adults teamed up to create posters titled "What the YMCA Means to Me." It was inspiring to watch the younger scouts and our experienced board members collaborate.

To wrap things up, everyone in attendance signed a copy of the Paris Basis as a pledge to carry our core mission forward. We then finished the day on a high note, coming together to cut the birthday cake. It was a simple yet meaningful celebration of 182 years of history, leaving us all feeling closer as a community and ready to tackle the work ahead.

Training for Real Life for Makalause Students - දෛනික ජීවිතේ වැඩ කටයුතු සඳහා මාකලෝසා දරුවන් පුහුණු කිරීම

The train excursion organized for the children of the Makalosa Program Center of the Pamunugama Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) was held with great enthusiasm on Friday, May 29th. Starting from the Ja-Ela railway station, the highlight of this trip was providing the children with practical, real-life experiences. From the very beginning, the children actively participated in every step of the journey, including going to the ticket counter, paying for their tickets, waiting for the train, and enjoying the scenic rail ride to their destination.

Upon arriving at the Negombo railway station, the children proceeded to the beautiful Rajapaksa Park, where they spent a wonderful time enjoying the surroundings and engaging in various games. In the evening, the group visited Pizza Hut in Negombo to enjoy some delicious pizza, sharing their experiences of the day with bright, happy smiles. The trip, in which nine children participated, concluded with everyone returning home filled with immense satisfaction. This successful outing was made possible largely due to the guidance of the Makalosa teaching staff and the unwavering support provided by the parents.

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ මාකලෝසා වැඩසටහන් මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ දරුවන් වෙනුවෙන් සංවිධානය කළ දුම්රිය චාරිකාව පසුගිය මැයි 29 වැනි සිකුරාදා ඉතා පැවැත්විණි. ජා-ඇල දුම්රිය ස්ථානයෙන් ඇරඹි මෙම චාරිකාවේ විශේෂත්වය වූයේ දරුවන් හට එදිනෙදා ජීවිතයේ අත්දැකීම් ප්‍රායෝගිකව ලබා දීමයි. ඒ අනුව දුම්රිය ප්‍රවේශපත්‍ර කවුන්ටරය වෙත ගොස් මුදල් ගෙවා තමන්ගේ ටිකට් පත මිලදී ගැනීමේ සිට, දුම්රිය පැමිණෙන තෙක් රැඳී සිටීම සහ ගමනාන්තය දක්වා දුම්රිය ගමනේ අසිරිය විඳගැනීම දක්වා වූ සියලුම අවස්ථාවන්ට දරුවෝ ඉතා උනන්දුවෙන් හා ක්‍රියාකාරීව සහභාගි වූහ.

මීගමුව දුම්රිය ස්ථානයට ළඟා වූ දරුවන් පසුව නගරයේ පිහිටි රාජපක්ෂ උද්‍යානය වෙත ගමන් කළේ ඉමහත් සතුටකිනි. එහිදී පරිසරයේ සුන්දරත්වය නරඹමින් සහ විවිධ ක්‍රීඩාවල නිරත වෙමින් දරුවන් ගත කළේ ඉතා ප්‍රීතිමත් කාලයකි. සවස් යාමයේ මීගමුව පීසා හට් (Pizza Hut) වෙත ගොඩවැදුණු ඔවුන් එහිදී පීසා රස බලමින් සිය දිනයේ අත්දැකීම් බෙදාහදා ගත්තේ සතුට මුසු වූ මුවින්. ඉමහත් තෘප්තියකින් යුතුව නැවත නිවෙස් බලා පිටත් වූ මෙම චාරිකාව සඳහා දරුවන් නව දෙනෙකු සහභාගි වූ අතර, මාකලෝසා මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ ඇදුරු මඬුල්ලේ මඟපෙන්වීම සහ දෙමාපියන්ගේ නොමඳ සහයෝගය මෙම සාර්ථක චාරිකාව පිටුපස තිබූ ප්‍රධානතම ශක්තිය විය.

Pre School Annual Trip - පෙර පාසල් වාර්ෂීක චාරිකාව

On May 28, 2026, the students of YMCA Preschool and their parents set off on a wonderful educational trip. They started their day at the Dehiwala Zoo, where the children were excited to see all the animals. It was a great chance for them to learn about nature and wildlife in a fun, outdoor setting.

After the zoo, they visited Ratmalana Airport. The children were amazed to see the airplanes up close and learned a little bit about how air travel works. It was definitely a highlight of the day, as many of them had a great time seeing how these big machines take to the sky.

They ended their trip with a visit to the sacred Kelaniya Temple. It was a quiet and peaceful way to finish their journey, allowing everyone to experience a beautiful cultural and religious environment. It was a day filled with learning and happy memories for the little ones, and the school is very thankful to all the parents who joined them.

2026 මැයි 28 වන දින, පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් පෙර පාසලේ සිසු දරුවන් සහ ඔවුන්ගේ දෙමාපියන් ප්‍රීතිමත් අධ්‍යාපනික චාරිකාවක නිරත විය. ඔවුන් සිය දිනය ආරම්භ කළේ දෙහිවල සත්වෝද්‍යානයෙනි. එහිදී විවිධ සතුන් දැක බලා ගැනීමට ලැබීම දරුවන්ට මහත් සතුටක් ගෙන දුන් අතර, ස්වභාවධර්මය සහ සතුන් පිළිබඳව බොහෝ දේ ඉගෙන ගැනීමට එය කදිම අවස්ථාවක් විය.

සත්වෝද්‍යානයෙන් පසු, ඔවුන් රත්මලාන ගුවන් තොටුපළ වෙත ගියේය. ගුවන් යානා ඉතා සමීපයෙන් දැක ගැනීමට ලැබීම දරුවන් තුළ දැඩි උනන්දුවක් ඇති කළ අතර, ගුවන් යානා ක්‍රියා කරන ආකාරය පිළිබඳව ද ඔවුන්ට මූලික අවබෝධයක් ලබා ගැනීමට හැකි විය. ගුවන් යානා අහසට නැඟෙන ආකාරය දැකීම දරුවන්ට සැබවින්ම සුන්දර අත්දැකීමක් විය.

සංචාරයේ අවසානය සනිටුහන් කරමින් ඔවුන් කැලණිය රජමහා විහාරය වෙත පැමිණියෝය. චාරිකාවේ වෙහෙස නිවාලමින් සිතට සැනසීමක් ගෙන දෙන පූජනීය පරිසරයක් තුළ කාලය ගත කිරීමට සියලු දෙනාටම හැකි විය. ඉගෙනුමෙන් සහ අලුත් අද්දැකීම් වලින් පිරුණු මේ දිනය දරුවන්ට අමතක නොවන මතකයක් වූ අතර, මෙම චාරිකාව සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමට සහය වූ සියලුම දෙමාපියන්ට අපගේ ස්තුතිය පුදකර සිටිමු.

මොබයිල් ජර්නලිස්ම් පුහුණුව Mobile Journalism Training

පරිසර යුක්ති කේන්ද්‍රය මඟින් මැයි මස 19 වන දින කපුන්ගොඩ අමලූනා හෝටලයේ දී සංවිධානය කළ ‘මොබයිල් ජර්නලිස්ම්’ පුහුණු වැඩසටහන සඳහා පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය නියෝජනය කරමින් මිනද, චාමික, ඉසුරු සහ ශයිනි සහභාගී වූහ. පාරිසරික ගැටළු පිළිබඳව ප්‍රජාව දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා ජංගම දුරකථනය උපයෝගී කරගත හැකි නවීන තාක්ෂණික ක්‍රමවේදයන් සහ ගුණාත්මක කෙටි වීඩියෝ නිර්මාණය කිරීමේ පියවරයන් පිළිබඳව මෙහිදී ප්‍රායෝගික පුහුණුවක් ලබා දෙන ලදී. මෙම වැඩසටහන හරහා ලද දැනුම පරිසරය සුරැකීමේ සහ ඒ පිළිබඳව සමාජ කතිකාවතක් ගොඩනැගීමේ කාර්යය සඳහා ඉදිරියේදී උපයෝගී කර ගැනීමට අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

The Centre for Environmental Justice organized a one-day mobile journalism training program on May 19th at the Amaluna Hotel, Kapungoda. Representing our association, Minada, Chamika, Isuru, and Shaini participated in this workshop. The program provided practical training on how to use mobile phones to raise awareness about environmental issues and the techniques required to create effective short videos for public advocacy. The skills acquired through this workshop are expected to be utilized in our future efforts to protect the environment and promote meaningful social dialogue on these critical matters.

Inclusive Avurudu Udanaya (New Year Festival) 2026

The annual New Year sports festival, organized by the youth of the Pamunugama Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA), was held with great enthusiasm on the 17th of May at the Pamunugama YMCA premises. The event featured a wide range of games categorized by age groups, along with several open competitions for youth and adult participants. The program was vibrant and colorful, featuring traditional games such as pillow fighting, pot breaking, spoon race with a lime, sack races, finding the hidden coin, and threading the needle, alongside modern New Year games like naming the teddy bear and the forehead-to-mouth biscuit game.

More than 300 people, including the child members of the Pamunugama YMCA, preschool children, local youths, students from the Makalosa Dream School, and neighbors, participated in the event with great excitement. Throughout the duration of the sports festival, the atmosphere was filled with joy, camaraderie, and a spirit of togetherness, as participants from all walks of life gathered to celebrate the festive season.

The primary objective of the Pamunugama YMCA in organizing such activities is to foster inclusivity for persons with disabilities, while sharing joy and entertainment among the community. This annual sports festival has become a hub for promoting unity and friendship among villagers, and the association looks forward to continuing such initiatives in the future to further uplift and support diverse community activities at the grassroots level.

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ තරුණ තරුණියන් විසින් වාර්ෂිකව සංවිධානය කරනු ලබන අලුත් අවුරුදු ජන ක්‍රීඩා වැඩසටහන මැයි මස 17 වන දින පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් භූමියේදී අති උත්කර්ෂවත් අයුරින් පැවැත්විණ. 

වයස් කාණ්ඩ ගණනාවක් යටතේ ප්‍රදේශයේ දරු දැරියන් සඳහා ක්‍රීඩා රාශියක් මෙන්ම තරුණ සහ වැඩිහිටි කණ්ඩායම් වෙනුවෙන්ද විවෘත තරග කිහිපයක්ම පැවැත්වුණු අතර, කොට්ටාපොර, වාසනා මුට්ටිය බිඳීම, හැන්ද මත දෙහි ගෙඩිය ගෙන යාම, ගෝනි රේස්, කාසිය සෙවීම, ඉදිකටුවට නූල දැමීම වැනි සම්ප්‍රදායික ජන ක්‍රීඩා මෙන්ම ටෙඩිබෙයාර්ට නම තැබීම සහ නලල මත බිස්කටය තබා කෑම වැනි නූතන අවුරුදු ක්‍රීඩාවන්ගෙන්ද මෙම වැඩසටහන වර්ණවත් විය.

මෙම වැඩසටහන සඳහා පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ ළමා සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන්, පෙර පාසලේ දරු දැරියන්, ප්‍රදේශයේ දරු දැරියන්, මාකලෝසා සිහින පාසලේ දරුවන් සහ අසල්වාසීන් ඇතුළු 300 කට අධික පිරිසක් ඉතා උද්යෝගයෙන් සම්බන්ධ වූහ. ක්‍රීඩා උළෙල පැවති කාලසීමාව පුරාම දැකගත හැකි වූයේ සතුටින් පිරි සුහද වාතාවරණයකි.

2026 මැයි 16 වන සෙනසුරාදා, තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවේ දී පැවති HVM 3 (ඉතිහාසය, දැක්ම සහ මෙහෙවර) පුහුණු වැඩමුළුව සඳහා දිවයින පුරා විසිරී සිටින තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් 15 දෙනෙකුගේ කණ්ඩායමක් සමඟ පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය නියෝජනය කරමින් මිනද, සඳරු, සෙනසි, තක්ෂිලා සහ රයිනි යන පිරිස සහභාගී විය. පෙර ප්‍රාදේශීය මට්ටමින් පැවැත්වූ HVM 1 මූලික පුහුණු වැඩසටහන්වල මීලඟ පියවරක් ලෙස මෙම වැඩමුළුවට පැවැත්වින. 

ශ්‍රී ලංකා තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවේ හිටපු සභාපති සමන් පෙරේරා පියතුමාගේ මෙහෙයවීමෙන් පැවති මෙම වැඩසටහන, YMCA ව්‍යාපාරයේ පරිණාමය පිළිබඳ ගැඹුරු අධ්‍යයනයකට අවස්ථාව සලසා දුන්නේය. මෙහිදී සහභාගී වූවන් වර්තමාන ක්‍රිස්තියානි මෙහෙවර පිළිබඳව මෙන්ම, 'Challenge 21' සහ අපගේ වර්තමාන මගපෙන්වන ලියවිල්ල වන 'Vision 2030' ලියවිල්ල පිළිබඳවද අධ්‍යයනයක යෙදින. 

මෙම අත්දැකීම අපගේ තරුණ සාමාජිකයන්ට සහ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයෙහි  ගෝලීය අනන්‍යතාවය හැඩගස්වන මූලික වටිනාකම් සමඟ අනන්‍ය වීමට ලැබුණු වටිනා අවස්ථාවක් විය. 

Empowering Our Future: Pamunugama YMCA at HVM 3 Training

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, members of the Pamunugama YMCA joined representatives from across the country for the History, Vision and Mission 3 (HVM 3) Training at the National Council. Representing our branch, Minada, Sandaru, Senasi, Thakshila, and Raini took part in this intensive session, which served as a follow-up to the foundational history, vision, and mission workshops previously held at the local level.

Facilitated by Rev. Saman Perera, the Past President of the National Council of YMCAs of Sri Lanka, the programme offered a deep dive into the evolution of the YMCA movement. Participants explored the contemporary Christian mission and analyzed key strategic frameworks that have defined our organization’s direction over the years, ranging from the historic Challenge 21 to our current guiding document, Vision 2030.

This experience has been a vital opportunity for our youth and staff to reconnect with the core values that shape our global identity. 

Makalause Students Visit Guruge Nature Park

2026.04.28 was an unforgettable day for Makalause. 12 Makalause children with their teachers went to Guruge Park swimming area . 

Before getting to the pools they also enjoyed the birds and animals in the area. 

Then they also visited the blacksmith's area popularly known as " kammala" and came to know its parts and activities. 

The swimming area has four swimming pools. Makalause group used the children's pool which was shallow yet filled with varieties of activities, and the pool with waves . 

After spending a few hours they enjoyed a delicious lunch. Before the heavy rainfall start to disturb their happiness all were lucky to  get in to the van to go back. 

Thanks to the Little Romel Fund  It was an amazing experience to all the children and staff at Makalause.

මාකලෝසා දරුවන්ගේ ගුරුගේ උද්‍යාන සංචාරය

2026.04.28 මාකලෝසා දරුවන් 12ක් හා ගුරුමහත්මා මහත්මීහූ වැලිගම්පිටියේ ගුරුගේ උද්‍යානයට ගියහ. මව්වරුන් කීපදෙනෙක් ද ඔවුන්ගේ සහයට පැමිණ සිටියහ. 

එහි මූලික පරමාර්ථය වූයේ පිහිනුම් තඩාග ආශ්‍රිත විනෝදය ය. එහෙත් ඊට ප්‍රථමයෙන් ඔවුහූ විව්ධ පක්ෂීන් සත්ත්වයන් නරඹමින් විනෝද වූහ. තවද එම ස්ථානයේ දඬුකඳේ ගැසීම, කම්මල හා පැරැණි භාණ්ඩ හා මිනුම් වැනිදෑ පිළිබඳ දැනුම ද එක්කර ගත්හ.  

අනතුරුව පිහිනුම් තඩාග අතුරෙන් දරුවන් සඳහාම වෙන්වූ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් සපිරි තඩාගයන්හී පුරා පැයගණනාවක් ම ඔවුහූ විනෝද වූහ. පසුව ප්‍රණීත ආහාර වේලක් භුක්ති විඳි සියලු දෙනා මහා වැසි මගින් හදවත වසා පැවති සතුට දියකර හරින්නට පෙර ආපසු නිවෙස් බලා යෑමට වෑන් රියට ගොඩ වූහ. 

ලිට්ල් රොමෙන් අරමුදල නිසාවෙන් ලැබූ එම අවස්ථාව ගැන කෘතඥපූර්වකව මාකලෝසා සියල්ලෝ ඉමහත් සුන්දර අවස්ථාවක් අත්වින්දහ.
