YMCA organized the "We All Fly in the Same Sky" Kite Festival on 30 August 2020 evening on the Kepungoda Beach. YMCA has organized number of kite festivals in the past at several areas and the event this year was held on the same place for the 3rd consecutive year.
There were around 70 kites from the children attached to YMCA programmes and also from neighboring villages. Cash prices were awarded to first 3 places, Rs 10,000/=, 7,000/= & Rs 5,000/= respectively. There were also more cash prices to next best 15 selected kites. Crowd of over 500 came to the beach to witness this colorful event.Officer in charge (OIC) of the Dungalpitiya Police station was the chief guest of the event and also helped with his colleague to select the kites. Addressing the event, OIC mentioned that it was a great opportunity for the children in the area to enjoy as well as to create harmony by attending such beautiful event. He also thanked YMCA for continuing the event each year getting more and more kites to participate the event.
