On 17th and 18th October 2026, Sandaru and Minada from the YMCA of Pamunugama participated in the CH3 National Training Program, the third and final stage of the Camping and Hiking Programme. With this, both representatives have successfully completed all the CH trainings (CH1, CH2 and CH3) for the year 2026.
CH3 was a two-day, one-night adventure open only to youth members who had completed CH1 and CH2. A total of 15 participants took part, representing the YMCAs of Kalmunai, Negombo, Pamunugama, Navaly and Batticaloa.
The hike covered approximately 20 km, beginning at Kalupahana and ending at Ohiya. Participants made their way through scenic landscapes and challenging trails, followed by an overnight camping experience.
The program was made possible by the Working Committee Members, Mr. Ruwan (Pamunugama YMCA), Mr. Hasitha and Mr. Tharindu, together with the NCYSL staff, whose support and commitment contributed to its success.
Having completed the full series, Sandaru and Minada will bring the skills and experience they have gained across CH1, CH2 and CH3 to support the ongoing youth outdoor activities at the YMCA of Pamunugama.
