The Scouts of YMCA Pamunugama joined the #EarthHour2EarthDay campaign with two meaningful challenges held on March 8 and 9.
On Monday, March 24 8, 25 Scouts along with 4 staff and leaders took part in Vegetarian Monday. They prepared and shared a delicious vegetarian meal together. This activity helped them learn how eating more plant-based food can help reduce harm to the environment. Even small changes like having a vegetarian meal once a week can support a healthier planet.
On Tuesday, March 25, the Scouts accepted the No-Plastic Tuesday challenge. They started by listing everyday items made of plastic and polythene, and then had a good discussion on how to reduce plastic use. They also shared ideas for using eco-friendly alternatives. The challenge encouraged everyone to think about how we can reduce waste and take better care of nature.
Through these activities, the YMCA of Pamunugama Scouts showed their commitment to protecting the environment. They are learning important lessons and becoming young leaders for a greener future.
🌱 Let’s all be inspired by their actions and continue to care for our planet every day!
