A parental awareness program titled “Is Your Child Safe?” was organized by the Setthappaduwa Village Public Safety Committee, affiliated with the Dungalpitiya Police, on October 11th at the YMCA of Pamunugama Main Hall.
The event featured two main presentations. The first session, conducted by the Child Rights Officer of the Gampaha District Secretariat, focused on the responsibilities of parents in ensuring their children’s safety and well-being. It highlighted the importance of a positive family environment and the role of parents’ exemplary behavior in the healthy development of children.
The second session was conducted by the Officer-in-Charge of the Dungalpitiya Police, who discussed the legal framework for child protection and the actions that can be taken in cases of abuse or neglect.
About twenty parents from the area participated in the program and shared that they gained valuable knowledge and practical insights. The YMCA of Pamunugama contributed to the success of the event by providing the venue and supporting the hospitality arrangements.
