YMCA also joined a campaigned to raise awareness of the people live on coast line from Negombo to Usvetakeiyawa in the west coast. During this campaigned people were addressed at various stops, leaflets were distributed and a petition was signed to be handed over to the government authorities.

According to the environmentalists, a number of environmental issues will irrupt as consequences of the proposed project and the social and political impact will be numerous as the most of this City will be owned by the Chinese.
