Picnic of Pre-School Kids

YMCA of Pamunugama Pre-School kids had their annual picnic on Saturday 27 June, 2015. Parents and family members also joined the trip along with the kids. They started the journey at 6 am from Pamunugama YMCA. Their first stop was the Rathmalana Air Force Museum where they had the chance of seeing old air crafts and various antique items belonged to the Air Force.

Then they proceeded to the Dehiwala National Zoo. After enjoying the Zoo kids had lunch before proceeding to the Gall Face - Colombo. After playing and sightseeing in Gall Face they returned home. Kids had a wonderful day with teachers and parents.

Kubb Tournament - Celebrating the work of the YMCA

This is the month that we celebrate the Work of the YMCA as the YMCA founders Day falls on 06 June. First event was held on 06 June. YMCA of Pamunugama conducted a Shramadana (Work Camp) to clean the Road that leads to the YMCA. Yesterday (21 June, 2015) the YMCA of Pamunugama organized a Kubb Tournamen as the second event of celebrations.

7 teams (Around 25 children) participated the Tournaments which held at the YMCA Volleyball Court. Kids from age 9 to 15 took part in the event which was full of enthusiasm, friendship and happiness. Tournament was held as a knock-out series. All the teams had a team name (Funny names) and the team “Gedara Yana Gaman” won the Finals.

Celebrating the Founders Day

YMCA joins the Peoples Movement Against the Port City to raise awareness

Peoples Movement Against the Port City consists of various civil movements and organizations in the Negombo area. YMCA also joined a campaigned to raise awareness of the people live on coast line from Negombo to Usvetakeiyawa in the west coast. During this campaigned people were addressed at various stops, leaflets were distributed and a petition was signed to be handed over to the government authorities.

According to the environmentalists, a number of environmental issues will irrupt as consequences of the proposed project and the social and political impact will be numerous as the most of this City will be owned by the Chinese. Campaign will be continued and YMCA of Pamunugama has taken a firm decision to stick together with this Movement to keep people aware and to involved in action to stop this project.

Small Loans provided for Self Emplyees of the YMCA Micro Finance Proramme

Micro Finance Project is one of the development activities of the YMCA of Pamunugama. Women involved in Self Emplyments are engaged with this Project and currently there are 15 members actively participate.
   
Four Members of the Micro Finance Project received small loans to develop their self employments at the YMCA on 16 June, 2015. Grocery Shops, Fishing and beauty culture are the involved fields of businesses of those who received loans.

Founders Day Celebrations - 2015

YMCA of Pamunugama is organizing a series of programmes during the month of June to mark the YMCA Founders Day 2015 which falls on every 06th day of June.

Kick-off event was held today (06 June, 2015). Children’s Club members had a Road Cleaning Shramadana. Children of the YMCA gave their volunteer service to clean the way that leads to the YMCA from the main road.
