YMCA of Pamunugama together with YMCA of Munich conducted a the Christian Mission Programme for the 3rd consecutive year. 9 young people (5 boys and 4 girls) from Munich arrived at YMCA of Pamunugama on 6th March and stayed till 16th March attending various programme organized by two YMCAs together. Group was led by Basti who was a participant on the Christian Mission Programme two years back in 2017.
Major focus of the visit was the Christian Mission Camp for young people held from 8 - 10 March 2019. 28 young people representing Pamunugama YMCA, Vavuniya YMCA and Union Church Welisara attended the programme. Major topics of the camp was faith, love, hope and heavenly justice. There were bible studies, Campfire, biblical inputs group discussion, worship sessions and fun activities during the camp led by Munich youth.
On 11th March Munich YMCA youth visited Makalause Dream School and spent time playing, singing and praying with the students. Later in the afternoon had a Boat Trip in the Negombo lagoon to enjoy the nature. On the following day on 12th group had preparations for the cultural show and painted the YMCA Main Hall. Group also had a chance of visiting a Buddhist temple on 13th March where they visited the Pilikuttuwa temple and learnt about how Buddhism is being practiced in Sri Lanka. Group also visited Henaratgoda Botanical Garden in Gampaha during this day out.
On 14th Group had a visit to Colombo. They had a city tour and later had a lunch meeting at the YMCA of Colombo and met few Board Members and staff of Colombo YMCA. On the same day evening YMCA of Pamunugama members joined Munich YMCA youth at the Worship evening. There were around 30 members from Pamunugama YMCA attended.
On 15th March evening there was a joint cultural show. Both Pamunugama YMCA and Munich YMCA members including the students of YMCA Pre-School and Makalause Dream School performed several items including a Christian sketch, drama and several dances. Dance by Munich YMCA members to a Sinhala song was the highlight of the event while all the other items were enjoyed by a crowd of over 150.
16th March was the last day of the programme where Munich YMCA youth spent time with the children of Pamunugama YMCA. They also used some of the spare times during other days also to play with kids. They also taught bible stories had a wonderful time of fellowship together.
YMCA of Pamunugama would like to extend its gratitude to Munich YMCA for accepting the invitation for the Christian Mission Programme 2019 and also thank all the youth who came from Munich who has made a tremendous contribution to the programme with a strong Christian faith.
