The program, attended by 20 individuals from diverse regions of the island, commenced with an introduction to media standards and strategies for engaging audiences. Participants received hands-on guidance on mobile journalism techniques, including photography for social media platforms. Moreover, insights into the implications of the recently enacted Online Security Act were provided, fostering discussions on its impact on social media users.
The culmination of the program involved a reflective dialogue on gender-specific challenges in social media usage, identified through collaborative group discussions. Among the participants were five representatives from the Pamunugama Young Men's Christian Association and express gratitude to Mr. Dinusha Nanayakkara, an environmental activist instrumental who facilitated the YMCA involvement, and to the Center for Environmental Justice orchestrating the workshop.
