Dialogue Meeting - Lessions to learn from South Africa

Pamunugama youth had their monthly dialogue meeting yesterday (1 July, 2014) at the YMCA. This time they shared knowledge on the Apartheid in South Africa and on the reconciliation process practiced in South Africa.

Purpose of this meeting was to highlight the lessons that we as Sri Lankas could learn for the reconciliation process in Sri Lanka.. Youth in Pamunugama are planning for number or practical events to promote reconcilation in Sri Lanka during coming months together with youth in other YMCAs all around the island.

Aman and Muditha two youth members attended the Global Week and TT held in Gjovik in Norway. They had a leadership training and a awareness building sessions on international issues during the Global Week. Following the Global Week they joined the TT Festival which is a Youth Festival. During the TT they attended Stop Poverty Campaign and number of sessions.
There were around 70 young people from 13 countries for the Global Week and around 2500 youth for the TT Festival. They were in Norway from 20 - 29 June, 2014.

Meanwhile, Udara Devmi, who is a member of the World Alliance Change Agent Programme attended the World Council Meeting and a Change Agent Training Programme held in Rockies in USA from 28th June - 7th July, 2014.

Long Walk To Freedom - Dialogue Circle

Youth of Pamunugama got together on 28th June, 2014 at the YMCA to watch the movie "Long Walk to Freedom". Movie evening is is  a part of the ongoing Monthly Dialogue Circle Activity. They have planned for several similar meetings of youth to discuss on various issues, related to Justice, Peace and Reconciliation through out the year.

Meanwhile youth in Pamunugama together with other youth in other YMCAs planning to conduct number of activities this year to promote reconciliation in Sri Lanka. Exchange Programmes, Sport and Cultural Events, Workshops and Seminars are among the planned activities. Y Global of Norway is cooperating with the YMCA of Pamunugama in organizing and conducting the above events though a partnership project.

Children of the Pamunugama YMCA Children's Club and the Girl Guides took part in a cleaning session of the YMCA as they took part in the Western Province Dengu Prevention Week.
