Evening Camp for Children

Members of the Children's Club gathered on Sunday 26 August, 2012 at the YMCA to enjoy the evening with different YMCA activities. There were around 27 children including 6 new commers at the programme. Programme started in the hall with a welcome and few indoor activities including getting to know each other and few fun activities. Children were divided into three groups and they participated the games and activities as groups and marks were awarded for each activity. Before they went out door for relay games and other outdoor activities children learnt few new YMCA songs (camp songs) as well.
Children enjoyed even more outdoor with several relay games and magic shoe event. Then they spend times in groups preparing their item for the campfire while having refreshment break. Campfire was started at 6.00 pm and there were performances from each group and few inputs from the leaders too. According to the marks the best team was selected at the Campfire.
Surprise visit of Mr. Lakshan Dias the National General Secretary of the NCYSL added even more color to the event at the start.

Rolf visits Sri Lanka for 50th Anniversary

YMCA Pamunugama long standing scout partner and friend from Asker - Oslo visited Sri Lanka for the 6th time in his life to attend the 50 Anniversary Celebrations of the National Council of the YMCAs of Sri Lanka. He was in Sri Lanka from 9th - 17th of August. 
During his stay he attended the 50th Anniversary Celebrations Public Meeting and the Fund Raising Dinner on 11th. Then he joined a group of international participants to visit the Northern part of the country from 12 - 14, August.

On 15th Rolf visited the National Council of the YMCAs of Sri Lanka together with Ridma and Shelton to meet the National General Secretary and the Scouts Coordinator and had a discussion about the Scouting Activities in Sri Lanka. On 16th he had a meeting with President, Shelton and other staff of the YMCA on the new plans to develop Scouting in Pamunugama. Later of the day he met few guides and few members of the YMCA of Pamunugama for a social chat.
During his stay at Pamunugama Rolf stayed with the Ridma's family. YMCA of Pamunugama thank Rolf for choosing to come to Sri Lanka to attend the 50th Anniversary and for the good time YMCA and it's members had with him.

Pamunugama joins the 50th Anniversary of the NCYSL

National Council of the YMCAs of Sri lanka is proudly celebrating it's 50th Birthday in this year. Main celebration of the 50th Anniversary was held on 11th August, 2012 at the Mount Lavinia Beach Hotel with the participation of around 400 YMCA members and well-wishers from all around the World. 21 member group including our cultural dance group, staff and President and volunteers from YMCA of Pamunugama also attended this. Pamunugama YMCA dancing group performed the opening dance which was eye-catching to all the distinguished guests. There were 5 youth from Pamunugama assisted the organizers to make the event smoothly held. On the same day there was a Fund Raising dinner and there were two volunteers (Mr. Shelton and Mr. Ranjith) from Pamunugama attended.

Event was consisted of speeches, dances and am Award Ceremony where the founder member YMCAs of the NCYSL were awarded with special plaques.

Parallel to the main event there was a gathering of India and Sri Lanka YMCAs on 10th August at the Palm Beach Hotel in Mount Laniniya. Ridma Fonseka and Shelton Peiris attended event where they have discussed on potential partnerships with Indian YMCAs in the future.

Another event of the celebration was the International youth Event on Global Citizenship which was organized by the APAY from 7 - 12 August 2012. Pamunugama is proud of being able to send three youth our of 4 spots reserved for Sri Lankan participants.
