Makalause Dream School Fair - මාකලෝසා සිහින පාසල් වාර්ෂික පොළ

Makalause Dream School had their Annual Fair on 7th December 2023. It was held parallel to the chuch feast of St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children at Bopitiya church premises. 

Children of Makalause Dream School with the help of their teachers and parents worked hard to make it a success. Different items made by them including refreshing snacks were sold at the event. 

The parish priest of Bopitiya  and the parish priest of neighbouring Pamunugama parish supported the event by giving a special space in the church premises and making public announcements requesting the support of the devotees.

2023.දෙසැම්බර් 7 දින මාකලෝසා සිහින පාසල එහි වාර්ෂික පොළ පැවැත්වී ය. දරුවන්ගේ සාන්තුවරයා හා නත්තල් සීයා යන විරුදාවලිය ලත් ශා. නික්ලස් මුනිතුමන්ගේ මංගල්‍යයට සමගාමීව බෝපිටිය දේවස්ථාන පරිශ්‍රයේ එය පවත්වන ලදී. 

මාකලෝසා දරුවෝ ඔවුන්ගේ ගුරුවරියන් හා මාපියන්ගේ ආධාරය හා උපකාරය ඇතිව එය සාර්ථක කර ගනු පිණිස ඉතා වෙහෙස වී වැඩ කටයුතු කළහ. දරුවන්ගේ නිර්මාණ, අත්කම් හා ආහාරපාන දරුවන්ගේ සහභාගිත්වය හා ක්‍රියාකාරී  දායකත්වය ඇතිව අලෙවි කරන ලදී.

බෝපිටිය මීසම්භාර පියතුමා හා අසල්වාසී පමුණුගම මීසම් භාර පියතුමා අදාළ ස්ථානය ලබාදීම හා දේවස්ථානයන්හි නිවේදන ඔස්සේ අවස්ථාවට ප්‍රචාරය ලබා දීම මගින් මාකලෝසාවට සිය නොමඳ සහය පළ කළහ.

සංගමයේ දරුවන්ගේ කැරොල් සංචාරය - Spreading Christmas Cheer: Youth Share Peace and Joy

සාමයේ කුමරු ගේ පැමිණීමේ පණිවිඩය රැගෙන පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ දරු දැරියන් තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය අවට නිවෙස් වෙතට තම කැරොල් සංචාරය 2023 නම්බර් මස 21 වන දින සිදුකෙරිණ.  මේ සඳහා දරු දැරියන් විසිපස් දෙනෙකු පමණ එක් වූ අතර තරුණ හවුලේ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන්ගේ නායකත්වය හිමි විය. කැරොල් ගීත ගායනා කරමින් දරුවන් වීදි පුරා ගමන් ගත් අතර ඔවුන් බැහැ දැකි නිවෙස් වල සිටි අය වෙත ත්‍යාග ලබාදීම ද මෙහිදී සිදු විය. 

A group of young boys and girls from the YMCA of Pamunugama embraced the Christmas spirit in a special way. Led by the YMCA youth, they went from house to house, singing carols and giving gifts on 21 December 2023. Their mission was clear: to spread the message of peace that comes with Jesus' arrival at Christmas.

With smiles and songs, they brought joy to each doorstep, sharing gifts and the timeless reminder that Christmas embodies peace and goodwill.

2023 වර්ෂ අවසාන සාමාජික සුහද හමුව.

වාර්ෂිකව පැවැත්වෙන පමුණුගම තරුණු ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන්ගේ සුහද හමුව මෙවරද දෙසැම්බර් මස 22 වන දින තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ශාලාවේ දී පැවැත්විණ. ඒ සඳහා  සංගමයේ කාර්යමණ්ඩලය සහ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් ඇතුළු පනස් දෙනෙකු පමණ සහභාගි විය. එහිදී කැරොල් ගීත ගායනා කරමින් විවිධ විනෝද තරග සඳහා එක්වෙමින් සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් සහ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය විනෝද විය.

වසර පුරාවට විශේෂ ආකාරයෙන් දායකත්වය දැක්වූයේ සැනසුම සුභසාධන සේවයේ නායක නායිකාවන් අගය කිරීම සහ පොදු මුළුතැන්ගෙය ව්‍යාපෘතිය සඳහා දායකත්වය ලබා දුන් දෙමාපියන් ඇගයීමද මෙම එකමුතුවේදී සිදුවිය. 

Year End Members Get-together

December 22nd, 2023, lit up with joy and appreciation as 50 YMCA of Pamunugama members and staff united for the year end Christmas gathering. 

Laughter filled the air as games were played and songs were sung, creating an atmosphere bursting with warmth and unity.

But it was more than just fun; it was a day to appreciate those who made incredible contributions. Leaders of the Senasuma Welfare Project were thanked for their hard work. Parents who supported the Community Kitchen project were recognized. Their help kept the community strong during tough times, and they, both received tokens of appreciation.

Beyond the activities, the day focused on bonding and reminding us of our values: unity, service, and caring for one another.

YMCA of Pamunugama Year End Concert

The Pamunugama YMCA's year-end concert illuminated the community on Sunday, December 14, highlighting the talents of its child and youth members. The Main Hall filled with the vibrant performances of children from the Preschool, Scout Group, and Makalause Dream School, showcasing their acting, dancing, and singing tallents. Also the youth of the YMCA joined with carols and singing. Over two hundred and fifty local residents attended to vitness the event.  

Amidst these wonderful displays, the evening held a significant announcement: the upcoming fiftieth anniversary celebration of the Pamunugama Youth Christian Association in 2024. This unveiling included the official logo, marking the start of a journey toward this meaningful milestone. 

The evening also saw deserving children being recognized for their active involvement throughout the year, receiving prizes as a token of appreciation for their commitment.

Mr. Niranga Fernando, National General Secretary of the National Council of YMCAs of Sri Lanka (NCYSL), Mr. Richard Jans, Vice President of NCYSL, Mr. Ramesh Kanna, General Secretary of Negombo YMCA, Mr. Dhanuka Jayamanna, President of Pamunugama YMCA, along with Aruna Nonis (Advisor, Pamunugama YMCA) and the respected Board of Directors, graced the event as guests.

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ දරු දැරියන්ගේ හැකියාවන් කලඑළි ගැන්වෙනි වර්ෂ අවසාන විවිධ ප්‍රසංගය

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ විවිධ වැඩසටහන් හා සම්බන්ධ වන දුවා දරුවන්ගේ හැකියාවන් එළිදැක්දැවෙන වර්ෂ අවසාන විවිධ ප්‍රසංගය දෙසැම්බර් මස 14 වන ඉරුදින සංගම් ශාලාවේ දී පැවැත්විණ. එහිදී සංගමයේ පෙර පාසලේ, බාලදක්ෂ බාලදක්ෂිකා කණ්ඩායමේ සහ මාකලෝසා සිහින පාසලේ දරු දැරියන්ගේ හැකියාවන් රංගනය, නර්තනය, සහ ගායනා අංශ වලින් ඉදිරිපත් කෙරිණ. එමෙන්ම සංගමයේ තරුණ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන්ද කැරොල් සහ ගීත ගායනයකින් සම්බන්ධ විය. මෙම වැඩසටහන නැරඹීමට දෙසියපනහකට අධික ප්‍රදේශවාසීහු සහභාගි විය. 

වැඩසටහන අතරතුරු තවත් විශේෂ සිදුවීමක් විය. එනම් 2024 වසරේදී පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය තම පනස්වන සංවත්සරය සමරන බවට ද ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කෙරූ අතර පනස් වන සංවත්සර නිල ලාංඡනයදීම එළිදැක්වින. 

මෙම ප්‍රසංගය සඳහා ආරාධිත අමුත්තන් ලෙස තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවේ ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් නිරංග ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා, උප සභාපති, රිචඩ් ජෑන්ස් මහතා, මීගමුව තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් රමේෂ් කන්නා මහතා, පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ සභාපති ධනුක ජයමාන්න මහතා ඇතුළු උපදේශක මණ්ඩලයේ සහ පාලක මණ්ඩලයේ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් සහභාගි විය.

වසර පුරාවටම සංගමයේ වැඩසටහන් සමඟ සම්බන්ධ වූයේ සියලු දරු දැරියන් හට ත්‍යාග ලබාදීම ද මෙහිදී සිදු විය.

ශුද්ධ වූ දේශයේ පවතින දිගු කාලීන අර්බුදය පිළිබඳව YMCA සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් දැනුවත් කිරීම

මේ මොහොත වන විට ශුද්ධ වූ දේශයේ  එනම් පලස්තීන භූමියේ පවතින ගැටුම් පිළිබඳව තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් දැනුවත් කිරීම සඳහා පමුණුගම YMCA  විසින් දෙසැම්බර් 12 වන දින Zoom රැස්වීමක් සංවිධානය කරන ලදී. YMCA සාමාජිකයින් 30 කට වැඩි පිරිසක් ඒ සඳහා සම්බන්ධ විය.

එහිදී ඔවුන් පහත මාතෘකා ඔස්සේ සංවාදය පවත්වන ලදී. 

• ගැටුමේ පසුබිම තේරුම් ගැනීම: අජිත් හැඩ්ලි, ගැටුම ආරම්භ වූ ආකාරය පැහැදිලි කළ අතර, එහි ඉතිහාසය සහ එය මෙතරම් සංකීර්ණ වන්නේ මන්දැයි සැකෙවින්ම පැහැදිලි කරන ලදී. 
• පලස්තීන ප්‍රතිරෝධය සහ  ගැන ඉගෙනීම: ෂෙල්ටන් පීරිස් පලස්තීනුවන් ප්‍රතිරෝධය දක්වන ආකාරය ගැන කතා කළ අතර පලස්තීන විමුක්ති සංවිධානය (PLO) සහ හමාස් සංවිධානය හඳුන්වා දුන් අතර, අරගලය වඩා හොඳින් අවබෝධ කර ගැනීමට මෙම පැහැදිලි කිරීම උපකාරී විය. 
• විවෘත සංවාදය: ගැටලු ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම සහ අපැහැදිලි තැන් පිළිබඳව වටහා ගැනීම සංවාදයේදි සිදු විය. මෙමගින් විවිධ අදහස් හුවමාරු කර ගනිමින් සෑම දෙනාටම මාතෘකාව වඩාත් ගැඹුරින් අවබෝධ කර ගැනීමට හැකි විය.
• පලස්තීනය පිළිබඳ ලෝක YMCA හි ස්ථාවරය: ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවෙහි ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් නිරංග ප්‍රනාන්දු, මෙම ගැටලුව පිළිබඳව ලෝක තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ ස්ථාවරය බෙදා ගත්තේය. ලොව පුරා සාමය ඇති කිරීමට YMCA උපකාර කිරීම කොතරම් වැදගත්ද යන්න ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය. 
• 
  අපගේ වගකීම: සමාජ ක්‍රියාකාරිකයෙකු වන ලක්ප්‍රිය නානායක්කාර අදහස් බෙදා ගනිමින් ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියේ ලොව කොහේ ජීවත් වුවද අර්බුධයක් තුළ අප සැමදෙනා හටමින් වගකීමක් පැවරෙන බවයි.  එහිදී විශේෂයෙන් BDS ව්‍යාපාරය පිළිබඳව අදහස් බෙදා ගැනීමක් සිදුකර අතර පවතින අර්බුදකාරී තත්ත්වය හමුවේ ශ්‍රායලය වෙත බලපෑම් සිදුකර හැකි හොඳම ආකාරය BDS ව්‍යාපාරය හා සම්බන්ධ වීම බව පැහැදිලි කරන ලදී. 

මෙම සංවාදය තවදුරටත් ඉදිරියට කරගත කරගෙන යා යුතු බව සහභාගී වූවන්ගේ අදහස විය. කුඩා ක්‍රියාකාරී කණ්ඩායමක් ලෙස මෙම මාතෘකාව පිළිබඳව දිගින් දිගට ම කටයුතු කිරීමට එකඟ වීමෙන් සංවාදය අවසන් විය.

Global Chat on the Conflict in Holy Land

The YMCA of Pamunugama recently hosted an insightful Zoom meeting aimed at educating youth on the ongoing conflict in the Holy Land. The session, which took place on December 12th, saw an impressive turnout with over 30 YMCA members

The agenda was prepared in order to get an understanding on the complex situation:

• Background to the Conflict: Ajith Hadley expertly laid the foundation by delving into the historical backdrop of the conflict, offering participants crucial insights into its origins and complexities.
• Palestinian Resistance and Introduction to PLO: Shelton Peiris shed light on the Palestinian resistance movements, notably introducing the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), and Hamas providing a deeper understanding of the struggle.
• Open Discussion (Q&A): The session fostered an engaging dialogue, allowing participants to seek clarifications and exchange perspectives, fostering a more nuanced understanding among attendees.
• 
  World YMCA Stance on Palestine: Niranga Fernando, General Secretary of YMCA of Sri Lanka, provided valuable insights into the global movement's stance on the issue, emphasizing the role and responsibility of YMCA in contributing to global peace.
• Activism and Solidarity: Lakpriya Nanayakkara, an activist, presented tangible actions the YMCA community could take in solidarity. The discussion included an introduction to BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) and various solidarity activities that can be undertaken as a YMCA family.

The session not only aimed to inform but also to inspire action. It encouraged participants to contemplate their roles in advocating for peace and justice in the region.

As we move forward, let us continue these conversations, amplifying our collective voices in pursuit of peace, justice, and solidarity for all.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පලස්තීන තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් වාර්ෂිකව පවත්වනු ලබන නත්තල් ඉටිපන්දම් දැල්වීමේ උත්සවය 2023 දෙසැම්බර් 11 වන දින කොළඹ 7, විජේරාම පාරේ පිහිටි තානාපති කාර්යාල පරිශ්‍රයේදී විවෘත විය.

පලස්තීනයේ, විශේෂයෙන් ගාසා තීරයේ, ඊශ්‍රායල හමුදාවන්ගේ අඛණ්ඩ ප්‍රහාරවලින් පලස්තීනුවන්ගේ දුක් වේදනා තීව්‍ර කර ඇති අතර, උග්‍රවෙමින් පවතින තත්වය මෙම වැඩසටහනේ අවධානයට ලක් වූ බැවින්, මෙම වසරේ නත්තල් ඉටිපන්දම් දැල්වීමේ වැඩසටහන වෙනස් මුහුණුවරක් ගන්නා ලදී.

මෙම උත්සවය සහයෝගීතාවයේ වේදිකාවක් ලෙස ක්‍රියා කළ අතර, පවතින කැලඹිලි මධ්‍යයේ පලස්තීනයේ ජනතාවට ඔවුන්ගේ සහයෝගය සහ සැලකිල්ල ප්‍රකාශ කිරීමට විවිධ කණ්ඩායම් සහ පුද්ගලයින්ට පලස්තීන තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් ආරාධනා කර තිබිණ. මේ අතර පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ තරුණ කණ්ඩායමද විය. මේ වන විට පලස්තීනයේ සිදුවන මහා විනාශයේ කෲරත්වය පිළිබඳ කියැවෙන ගීතයක් ගායනා කරන ලදි.

කොළඹ කතෝලික රදගුරු පදවියේ අගරදගුරු අතිඋතුම් මැල්කම් කාදිනල් රංජිත් හිමිපාණන්, ගෞරවනීය පියතුමන්ලා, සොහොයුරියන්, මහ කොමසාරිස්වරුන්, තානාපතිවරුන්, පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් සහ සිවිල් සමාජ සංවිධානවල නායකයින් ඇතුළු සම්භාවනීය පුද්ගලයින් මෙම අවස්ථාවට පැමිණ තම සහයෝගය පලස්තීන ජනතාව වෙත පළ කරන ලදි.

තම සංවේදී දේශනය අතරතුර පලස්තීන තානාපතිවරයා, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ජනතාව විසින් දක්වන ලද නොසැලෙන සහයෝගීතාවයට කෘතඥතාව පළ කරමින්, පවතින ගැටුම් හේතුවෙන් ඇති වී ඇති ගැඹුරු දුක් වේදනා පිළිබඳව බෙදා ගන්නා ලදී . නිදහස් පලස්තීනය පිළිබඳ දැක්ම සඳහා යාඥා කරන ලෙස තානාපතිවරයා සියල්ලන්ගෙන්ම ආයාචනා කළේය.

'Lighting the Christmas Candles' event with the embassy of Palestine

The yearly 'Lighting the Christmas Candles' event, hosted by the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Sri Lanka, unfolded on December 11, 2023, at the embassy premises on Wijerama Road, Colombo 7.

Traditionally a gathering to celebrate the season, this year's event took a somber turn as it spotlighted the escalating situation in Palestine, especially in Gaza, where continuous attacks by the Israel Forces have intensified the suffering of Palestinians.

The event served as a platform for solidarity, inviting various groups and individuals to express their support and concern for the people of Palestine amidst the ongoing turmoil. Among them, the Pamunugama YMCA, along with other attendees, passionately conveyed their plea for an end to the attacks through a moving song directed at those responsible for the violence.

Distinguished figures, such as His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo Catholic Diocese, esteemed Reverend Fathers, Sisters, High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Members of Parliament, and leaders from Civil Society Organizations, graced the event, lending their presence and support.

In a heartfelt address, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Sri Lanka shed light on the profound suffering inflicted by the ongoing conflict, expressing gratitude for the unwavering solidarity shown by the people of Sri Lanka. The ambassador appealed for prayers toward the vision of a free Palestine.

Reflecting on this gathering, it becomes ever more apparent that compassionate action is vital in addressing humanitarian crises of such magnitude.

Memorial Service - මළවුන් සිහිකිරීමේ දිව්‍යාගය

නොවැම්බර් මස කතෝලිකයන් විසින් තම පවුල් හී මියගිය හිතවතුන් සහ ඥාතීන් සිහිකරමින් විවිධ ආගමික කටයුතුවල නිරත වෙයි. මීට සමගාමීව පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ සැනසුම සුබසාධන සේවයේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් වාර්ෂිකව දිව්‍යාගයක් කැපුම්ගොඩ සාන්ත අන්තෝනි දෙව් මැදුරේදී සංවිධානය කරයි. නොවැම්බර් මස 19 ඉරුදින පැවැති මෙම දිව්‍යයාගේ සියලු සංවිධාන කටයුතුයි සංගමයේ සාමාජික සාමාජිකාවන් විසින් සිදුකළ අතර කියවීම්, පිරිසිදු කිරීම්, සහ පඬුරු පෙරහැර සංවිධානය මෙහිදී ඔවුන් අතින් සිදු විය.  

In November, Catholics honor their departed loved ones through various religious observances. Among these traditions, the YMCA of Pamunugama hosts an annual Church service at Kapumgoda St. Anthony's Church, led by the Senasuma Welfare Service. This year, on November 19, 2024, the association members organized the service, All the activities including the readings, cleaning, and procession of offerings were led by the members of the YMCA of Pamunugama. 

පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය ලෝක YMCA YWCA යැදුම් සතිය සමරයි

ලොව පුර YMCA සහ YWCA යන සංවිධාන ලෝක යාච්ඤා සතිය නොවැම්බර් 11 සිට 18 දක්වා සමරනු ලැබුවේ "බීජයේ සිට පීදීම දක්වා: බලාපොරොත්තුව සහ ආදරයෙන් පෝෂනය කිරීම" යන තේමාව කේන්ද්‍ර කරගනිම්නි.

මීට සමගාමීව අමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයද විශේෂ හමුවක් නොවැ. 18 උදෑසන වරුවේ  පවත්වන ලදි. වැඩසටහන් ආරම්භ වූයේ ප්‍රදේශයයේ පවතින වැදගත් තෙත් බිමක් වන මුතුරාජවෙල පිළිබඳ දැනුවත් වීමෙනි. එහි සංරක්ෂණය වෙනුවෙන් කැපවී කටයුතු කරණ දිනූෂ නානායක්කාර මහතා විසින් එම දැනුවත් කිරීම සිදු කරන ලදි.

ඉන් අනතුරුව ගරු සරත් ඉද්දමල්ගොඩ පියතුමා විසින් කිතුනුවන් වශයෙන් ස්වභාවධර්මය රැකගැනීමේ වගකීම අවධාරණය කරමින් විශේෂ මෙහෙයක් පවත්වන ලදී.  බාලදක්ෂ කණ්ඩායම, තරුණ හවුල ඇතුළු සාමාජිකයින් 45 ක් පමණ මෙම වැඩසටහන සඳහා එක් වූහ.

YMCA වෙනුවෙන් සහ ස්වභාවධර්මය ආරක්ෂා කිරීමේදී අප එකිනෙකා වෙනුවෙන් පැවරී ඇති කාර්යය වෙනුවෙන් මෙහිදී එක්ව යදින ලදි. මෙම වැඩසටහන පරිසරය සුරැකීම සඳහා වන අපගේ සාමූහික වගකීම පිළිබඳ අර්ථවත් මතක් කිරීමක් විය.

YMCA YWCA World Week of Prayer Event

YMCA of Pamunugama celebrated the YMCA YWCA World Week of Prayer on November 18th with a special event centered around the theme "From Seed to Blossom: Cultivating Hope and Love."

The day began with an enlightening discussion about Muthurajawela, an important nearby wetland, led by Mr. Dinusha Nanayakkara, a passionate activist dedicated to its conservation.

Following this, Rev. Sarath Iddamalgoda led a service emphasizing our responsibility as Christians to care for nature. Around 45 members, including scout groups and youth clubs, joined in for this insightful event.

Together, we prayed for YMCA and its crucial role in protecting nature. It was a meaningful reminder of our collective duty to safeguard the environment. Stay tuned for updates on our ongoing efforts to protect nature.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාව තුළ එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ජන ජනගහන අරමුදල සහ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවේ මැදිහත්වීමෙන් රට පුරා විහිද පවතින තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් 10 ක නියෝජිතයින් 35 දෙනෙකු හට ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජ සමාජභාවය මත පදනම් වූ හිංසනය පිටු පිටුදැකීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් දෙදින වැඩමුළුවක් නොවැම්බර් මස් 15 සහ 16 යන දිනයන් හි දී කොළඹ Court Yard හෝටලයේ දී පැවැත්විණ. 

ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජ සමාජභාවය යන සංකල්පය තේරුම් ගැනීම, ස්ත්‍රී පුරුෂ සමාජ සමාජභාවය මත පදනම් වූ ප්‍රචණ්ඩත්වයත්වයට හේතු වන සහ ඒවා පෝෂණය වන සාධක හා හඳුනාගැනීම, එවැනි ප්‍රචණ්ඩ ප්‍රචණ්ඩත්වයන් විශ්ලේෂණය කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය වන න්‍යායික දැනුම ලබා දීම යන කරුණු පදනම් කරගනිමින් දෙදින පුහුණු වැඩමුළුව පැවැත්විණ.

වැඩමුළුව අවසානයේයේ දී සහභාගිවූ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් නියෝජනයට කරන ලද දිස්ත්‍රික් අනුව ඉදිරි වසර සඳහා ප්‍රායෝගික වැඩ සැලැස්මක් සැකසීම ද මෙහි දී සිදු වූ අතර එම් වැඩපිළිවෙල එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ජනගහන අරමුදල හා සම්බන්ධ ඉදිරි වසර වැඩ සැලැස්මට අන්තර්ගත කරගැනීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය වන කරුණු සිදු කිරීමට ද එකඟ විය. 

UNFPA & National YMCA Workshop: Empowering Communities Against Gender-Based Violence

The UN Population Fund and National Council of  YMCAs in Sri Lanka teamed up for a fruitful workshop fighting Gender-Based Violence. Held at Hotel Courtyard in Colombo on November 15-16, it gathered 35 members from 10 local YMCAs, including Pamunugama YMCA.

Key Insights:

The workshop's sessions were designed to empower participants with a deep understanding of GBV:

• Understanding Sex and Gender: Delving into the distinctions between sex and gender proved pivotal in addressing the root causes of GBV.
• Deconstructing Gender-Based Violence: Participants gained a comprehensive view of the multifaceted nature and diverse forms of GBV, shedding much-needed light on this pervasive issue.
• Analytical Tool - Gender-Based Violence Tree: The innovative Gender-Based Violence Tree tool equipped attendees with effective analytical skills to dissect instances of GBV, identifying underlying causes and ramifications.
• 
  Identifying Vulnerable Communities: Discussions focused on recognizing and addressing vulnerabilities within communities, a crucial step in preventing GBVs.
• Strategies for Prevention: The sessions were replete with strategies and methodologies aimed at preventing GBVs, empowering participants with practical tools to effect change.

Action Plan and Collaboration with UNFPA: 

A pivotal outcome of the workshop was the formulation of a targeted action plan. participants actively contributed to crafting a plan designed for implementation at the local YMCA levels. This plan serves as a catalyst for change and aims to promote a safer environment within the community.

Excitingly, the UNFPA has committed to evaluating these action plans and incorporating them into their annual strategies. Furthermore, a collaborative effort between UNFPA and YMCA has been agreed upon for the upcoming year of 2024, signifying a unified front in combating GBV.

කිරිගල්පොත්තට ගිය ජාතික සභා තරුණ පා ගමන

ශ්‍රී ලංකා තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ජාතික සභාවේ තරුණ කමිටුව මගින් සං සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබූ පාගමන නොවැම්බර් මස 10 - 12 යන දිනයන් හිහි දී පැවැත්විණ. රට වටා පිහිටි තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් නියෝජනයට කරමින් තරුණ තරුණියන් 21 දෙනෙකු සහ නායකයින් 5 දෙනෙකු මෙම පා ගමන සඳහා සම්බන්ධ විය. නොවැම්බර් දස වන දින කණ්ඩායම රාත්‍රී තැපැල් දුම්රියෙන් ඔහිය වෙත ළඟා වූ අතර එකොළොස් වන දින කිරි ගල් කිරිගල්පොත්ත තරණය කිරීම සඳහා හෝර්ටන් තැන්න වෙත ගමන් කරන ලදී. 

හෝර්ටන් තැන්න පරිසර  කලාපයේ සුන්දරත්වය විඳිමින් දවස පුරා කිරි ගල් කිරිගල්පොත්ත තරණයේ යෙදින. මෙය තරමක් ත්‍රාසය ත්‍රාස්‍යජනක මෙන්ම ඉතා සුන්දර පරිසර අත්දැකීම්ක් විය. මෙම ගමන සඳහා පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය නියෝජනය කරමින් තරුණ තරුණියන් තිදෙනකු සහ කාර්යමණ්ඩලයේ සාමාජිකාවක් සම්බන්ධ විය. ඉතා වෙහෙසකර මෙන්ම සොඳුරු ගමනක අවසානයේ විඩාව නිවා ගනිමින් එදින රාත්‍රිය ඔහිය පුහුණු මධ්‍යස්ථානයේ දී ගත කරන ලදී. පසු දින රාත්‍රී තැපැල් දුම්රියෙන් කණ්ඩායම නැවතත් තම නිවෙස් බලා පිටත් විය.

A Thrilling Adventure: NCY Youth Hike to Kirigalpoththa

The National Youth Committee of the National Council of YMCAs of Sri Lanka organized an hike, bringing together 21 enthusiastic youth and 5 dedicated leaders form YMCAs around the country. The adventure unfolded as travelled on a night journey to Ohiya via the Night Mail Train on the 10th Nov.

On the 11th, the group entered into the breathtaking Hortan Plains, to start their hike to Kirigalpoththa, the second-highest mountain in Sri Lanka. The hike covered a total distance of approximately 15 kilometers, promising both challenge and reward for the participants.

Notably, three youth members and a staff representative from Pamunugama joined the expedition, adding to the sense of camaraderie and shared experience. The lush landscapes of the Hortan Plains provided a perfect backdrop for the journey, allowing the participants to connect themselves in the beauty of nature.

The group found accommodation at the Ohiya Training Center, which served as a comfortable base for rest and reflection. The evening of the 12th marked their return, once again via the Night Mail Train, concluding the adventure with a sense of accomplishment and memories to cherish.

Spectacular Magic Show at YMCA Pamunugama - YMCA ප්‍රධාන ශාලාවේදී අපූරු මැජික් සංදර්ශනයක්

The YMCA Pamunugama Pre-School's Parents Committee hosted an amazing magic show on October 29, 2023, at the YMCA Main Hall. This magical evening, featuring Mr. Lakruwan, also known as "Mister Magic," and his talented crew, captured the hearts of 300 attendees.

Prior to the event, parents worked tirelessly to sell tickets, and their efforts paid off in a big way. The event not only brought joy to the community but also raised funds to support the upcoming YMCA Pamunugama year-end concert.

We want to express our sincere thanks to the parents and teachers for their incredible dedication in making this event a success. Your hard work made this magical evening possible, and we are deeply appreciative of your support. This magical night will be remembered by all who attended, and it paves the way for an even more exciting year-end concert. 

YMCA පමුණුගම පෙර පාසලේ දෙමාපිය කමිටුව විසින් 2023 ඔක්තෝම්බර් 29 වන දින YMCA ප්‍රධාන ශාලාවේදී අපූරු මැජික් සංදර්ශනයක් පවත්වන ලදී. "මිස්ටර් මැජික්" ලෙසින්ද හැඳින්වෙන ලක්රුවන් මහතා සහ ඔහුගේ දක්ෂ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය මෙම ඉන්ද්‍රජාලික සන්ධ්‍යාව පැමිණ සිටි 300 ක පමන පිරිසගේ හදවත් පැහැර ගත්තේය.

උත්සවයට පෙර, ටිකට්පත් විකිණීම සඳහා දෙමාපියන් මහන්සි වී වැඩ කළ අතර, ඔවුන්ගේ උත්සාහය සාර්ථක විය. මෙම උත්සවය ප්‍රජාවගේ සතුටට හේතු වූවා පමණක් නොව, එළඹෙන YMCA පමුණුගම වසර අවසාන ප්‍රසංගයට අවශ්‍ය අරමුදල් රැස් කිරීම සඳහා ද මහඟු දායකත්වයක් දක්වන ලදී. 

මෙම උත්සවය සාර්ථක කර ගැනීම සඳහා වූ කැපවීම පිළිබඳව දෙමාපියන්ට සහ ගුරුවරුන්ට අපගේ අවංක ස්තූතිය ප්‍රකාශ කිරමු. 

තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය (YMCA ) සැමවිටම පලස්තීන ජනතාවගේ විමුක්ති අරගලයේ කොටස්කරුවකු විය.

පලස්තීන  ජනතාවගේ විමුක්ති අරගලයට නිදහසින් පසු බලයට පත්වූ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ  සෑම ආණ්ඩුවක්ම එක ලෙස සහය දැක්වූ අතර ඔවුන්ගේ ස්වාධීනත්වය සහ රටක් ලෙස ජාත්‍යන්තරය තුළ පිළිගැනීමේ අවශ්‍යතාවය වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිටියහ. 

සිරිමාවෝ බණ්ඩාරනායක මැතිණියට මේ රටේ නායිකාව ලෙස සිටිනා කාලවකවානුවේ ඊශ්‍රායලය පලස්තීනුවන්ට කරන පීඩාවන්ට  විරෝධය දැක්වීමට ඊශ්‍රායලය සමග තිබූ තනාපති සබදතාවයන් පවා නතර කර දැමුවාය.

ආන්ඩුව   ඊශ්‍රායලයෙන් යුද සහය ලබා ගැනීම සදහා පලස්තීනය වෙනුවෙන් නිහඩ පිලිවෙතක් අනුගමනය කිරීමට කටයුතු කළ අවස්ථා කීපයකදී මෙරට ප්‍රගතිශීලී කණ්ඩායම් වලින් ආණ්ඩුවට දැඩි විරෝධතාවයක් එල්ල විය.

2022 දී ඩෙන්මාර්කයේදී පැවති තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් ලෝක සම්මේලනයේදි සම්මත කරගනු ලැබූ පලස්තීන ජනතාවගේ අරගලයට සහය දැක්වීමේ විශේෂ යෝජනාව නොර්වේ සහ ස්වීඩනයේ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගම් සමග ඉදිරිපත් කරනු ලැබුවේ  ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය වීම විශේෂ අවස්ථාවකි.

1988 සිට පලස්තීන තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය අතර විවිධ සහයෝගිතා වැඩසටහන් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලැබූ අතර 2023 සැප්තැම්බර් 30 මීගමුවේදී පැවැත්වූ පලස්තීන කොඩි දිනය සැමරීම වෙනුවෙන් සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබූ සරුංගල උත්සවය සහ සංස්කෘතික වැඩසටහනට සෙත්තප්පාඩුව පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය සම සංවිධායකයෙකු ලෙස සහභාගි විය.

මෙහිදී පමුණුගම සෙත්තප්පාඩුව තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් රිද්ම ෆොන්සේකා පලස්තීන අරගලයට තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය සහභාගී ආකාරය පිළිබඳව කෙටි විස්තරයක් ඉදිරිපත් කළ අතර තවදුරටත් එම සහයෝගය ලබා දීමට සහතික විය.

එසේම පසුගියදා තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ ලෝක සමුළුවේදී සම්මත කරගනු ලැබූ යෝජනාව යථාර්ථයන් කර ගැනීමට තවත් කණ්ඩායම් ඒකරාශ්‍රී කර ගනිමින් පලස්තීන තානාපති කාර්යාලය සමග විවිධ වැඩසටහන් සංවිධානය කිරීමටද යෝජනා කරන ලදි.

Palestine Flag Day - Day of Solidarity with Palestine

In a display of solidarity, the Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine, Born To Win Relationships, and the YMCA of Pamunugama, in collaboration with the Embassy of Palestine in Sri Lanka, organized a vibrant kite festival to commemorate Palestine Flag Day. This event, held on September 30, 2023, brought together approximately 100 participants, including embassy delegates from Oman, the Philippines, Turkey, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Cuba, Indonesia, and several other nations. Event was held at the Jetwing Blue Hotel and on the adjoining beach in Negombo.

The first half of the event was held indoors and it included the cutting of a cake, singing the solidarity song for Palestine in Sinhala, Arabic and English. The embassy representatives graced the occasion with heartfelt greetings, reinforcing the bonds of friendship between their nations and Palestine. Their presence added a global dimension to the event, emphasizing the international solidarity that Palestine continues to receive.

The event was compered by Isuru of Pamunugama YMCA. Ridma, the General Secretary of the YMCA of Pamunugama also took the stage to address the gathering. In his speech, he underscored the friendship between Pamunugama YMCA and Palestine, emphasizing the deep-rooted connections that have been fostered over the years.

Ridma also drew attention to the resolution passed at the World Council meeting in Denmark in 2022. This resolution, jointly tabled by Norway, Sri Lanka, Sweden, and Denmark, exemplified the commitment of the YMCA to advocate for freedom from occupation for the people of Palestine. It served as a testament to the organization's dedication to justice on a global scale.

Then the second half of the event began outdoors on the beach with the hoisting of both Sri Lankan and Palestinian flags, and the joyful flight of kites into the clear blue sky. These gestures served as a powerful reminder of the support extended by the Sri Lankan community to the people of Palestine.

As we reflect on this memorable occasion, we are reminded that together, we can make a difference. The kite festival served as a symbol of hope, unity, and unwavering support for Palestine. It is our hope that these shared moments of solidarity will continue to inspire positive change and bring us closer to a world where justice and peace prevail.
