The National Youth Committee of the National Council of YMCAs of Sri Lanka organized an hike, bringing together 21 enthusiastic youth and 5 dedicated leaders form YMCAs around the country. The adventure unfolded as travelled on a night journey to Ohiya via the Night Mail Train on the 10th Nov.
On the 11th, the group entered into the breathtaking Hortan Plains, to start their hike to Kirigalpoththa, the second-highest mountain in Sri Lanka. The hike covered a total distance of approximately 15 kilometers, promising both challenge and reward for the participants.
Notably, three youth members and a staff representative from Pamunugama joined the expedition, adding to the sense of camaraderie and shared experience. The lush landscapes of the Hortan Plains provided a perfect backdrop for the journey, allowing the participants to connect themselves in the beauty of nature.
The group found accommodation at the Ohiya Training Center, which served as a comfortable base for rest and reflection. The evening of the 12th marked their return, once again via the Night Mail Train, concluding the adventure with a sense of accomplishment and memories to cherish.
