YMCA of Pamunugama hosted its much-anticipated Kite Festival on September 14, 2024, at Kepungoda Beach. This event was a key highlight in the series of activities marking the 50th Anniversary of the YMCA of Pamunugama.
Organized by the enthusiastic Youth Club of the YMCA, the festival saw an impressive turnout with over 100 kites flying through the sky. The event attracted local villagers, children from the YMCA, students from the Makalause Dream School, and participants from neighboring communities, all coming together to enjoy a day of colorful kites and festive cheer.
The festival was not only a feast for the eyes but also an occasion for friendly competition. The first three kites were awarded cash prizes and certificates, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day. The judging panel included officers from the Dungalpitiya Police Station, who had the challenging task of selecting the most impressive kites among the many.
This year’s festival was especially meaningful as it was part of the YMCA of Pamunugama’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. The Kite Festival, having been organized five times over the years, continues to be a tradition, and the YMCA of Pamunugama is proud to uphold this event as part of its annual events.
