The YMCA of Pamunugama joyfully celebrated the 179th anniversary of the global YMCA movement on June 6th, The occasion brought together 40 children, youth leaders, staff members, and the President of the Pamunugama YMCA.
To mark this special day, the YMCA of Pamunugama began the celebrations by cutting a cake adorned with the organization's logo. The momentous occasion served as a reminder of the YMCA's long-standing history, tracing its roots back to June 6, 1844, when the first YMCA was founded in London, England. Since then, the YMCA has grown into a global movement, empowering individuals and communities to develop their full potential in mind, body, and spirit.
Following the cake-cutting ceremony, participants joined a community engagement activity at the Model Farm of the YMCA of Pamunugama.
The 179th anniversary celebration of the YMCA served as a testament to the organization's enduring values and its continued commitment to transforming lives. By bringing together children, youth leaders, staff members, and community members, the Pamunugama YMCA exemplified the true spirit of the YMCA movement – unity, inclusivity, and the pursuit of holistic growth.
