New Years comes early to the Pre-School

New Year celebration which falls in the month of April (13th and 14th) is the biggest cultural celebration in Sri Lanka. This has been celebrated by the Sri Lankans for years and years. Cross over of Sun from Mina to Mesha (according to astrology) is considered as New Year in Sri Lanka.

Apart of regular study activities, YMCA Pre-School provides children the opportunity to learn traditions and culture by involving in activities as a group which helps the holistic development of a child. New Year celebrations organized today (07. 04. 2021) by the teachers with the support of parents to provide children with such cultural experience. 

During the programme children experienced number of New Year traditions in the classroom. New Year food, singing, boiling of milk, applying oil on hair were among them.
