The annual New Year's Games Festival organized by the youth of the YMCA of Pamunugama took place on May 1st at the Association’s premises. The event featured a vibrant array of traditional and modern games, bringing together community members of all ages for a day full of fun, laughter, and friendly competition.
The program included well-loved traditional Sri Lankan folk games such as Kotta Pora (pillow fight), Wasana Muttiya Bindima (breaking the lucky pod), lemon-and-spoon race, bag race, coin hunt, and needle threading. These were complemented by modern New Year games like Pini Bambara, naming the teddy bear, and the "biscuit from forehead to mouth" challenge.
Over 200 participants took part in the festivities, including YMCA child members, preschoolers, local children, students from Makalosa Dream School, and neighboring families. The event successfully fostered a spirit of togetherness, joy, and community cooperation—core values promoted by the YMCA of Pamunugama through such inclusive and engaging programs.
