A Call for Peace and Justice for Palestine

As the YMCA of Pamunugama, we cannot remain silent in the face of the immense suffering endured by the people of Palestine—especially the children who are victims of displacement, hunger, and violence.

In line with our values of justice, compassion, and solidarity, we have written two letters appealing for urgent interventions:

• One addressed to His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, urging Christian leaders to raise their voices globally for peace and justice.

• Another addressed to the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka, raising concerns over recent policy decisions and urging Sri Lanka to continue its long-standing tradition of standing firmly with the people of Palestine.

We believe that even small actions—letters, statements, prayers, or symbolic acts—can contribute to a stronger global voice against oppression and for the dignity of all people.

We share these letters here as a reflection of our position and as an invitation to others to stand in solidarity with Palestine.

සුගත් වසන්ත ද සිල්වා මහතා සමග පැවති සෙත් FM සංවාදය - Radio Interview with Sugath Wasantha De Silva

අබාධ සහිත ප්‍රජාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් මේ වන විට සිදුවන රාජ්‍ය මදිහත්වීම්, අභියෝග සහ ඉදිරි සැල්සුම් පිළිබඳව Seth FM ගුවන් විදුලි නාලිකාවේදී පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී සුගත් වසන්ත ද සිල්වා මහතා සමඟ ගුවන්විදුලි සංවාදයක් අගෝස්තු මස 12 වන දින පටිගත කෙරින. මේ සඳහා පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමය මඟින් ජනෝදානය සමග එක්ව පහසුකම් සපයන ලදි. මෙම අවස්ථාව ලබාදීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් සෙත් FM ආයතනයට සහා සම්බන්ධීකරණ කටයුතු සිදුකළ සුදර්ශන බියන්විලි මහතා සහ කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට හට අපගේ ස්තුතිය.

On 12th August, Seth FM recorded a radio interview with Member of Parliament Sugath Wasantha de Silva, focusing on current government interventions, existing challenges, and future plans for persons with disabilities. The programme was facilitated by the YMCA of Pamunugama in collaboration with Janodanaya. Sincere thanks to Seth FM, Mr. Sudharshana Biyanwila and the crew for coordinating this discussion.

එක්ව අත්නොහැර – YMCA ළමා කඳවුරු 2025

2025 අගෝස්තු 8 සිට 10 දක්වා පමුණුගම YMCA විසින් "එක්ව අත්නොහැර" ළමා කඳවුර සංවිධානය කරන ලදී. මෙම කඳවුර සඳහා  බාලදක්ෂයින් 22 දෙනෙකු සහ මාකලෝසා සිහින පාසලේ අබාධ සහිත ළමුන් 8 දෙනෙකු සහභාගී වූහ. කඳවුරේ සියළු ක්‍රියාකාරකම් මෙහෙය වීම සඳහා තරුණ නායක නායිකාවන් දස දෙනෙකු, කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය නියෝජනය කළ පස්දෙනකු සහ දෙමාපියන් තිදෙනෙකු සහය ලබාදුන්හ. කඳවුරේ ප්‍රධානතම අරමුණ වුයේ සියලු දෙනා එක්ව කණ්ඩායම් හැඟීමෙන් කටයුතු කිරීම මෙන්ම නිවාඩු කාලයේ විනෝදයෙන් දරු දැරියන්ට කාලය ගත කිරීමට අවස්ථාව ලබාදීමයි.   

1 වන දිනය – අගෝස්තු 8

කඳවුර ආරම්භවූයේ කඳවුරු භූමිය සූදානම් කර ගැනීමෙන් සහ දිවා ආහාරය සූදානම් කිරීමෙනි. ඉන් අනතුරුව ආරම්භක රැළිය පැවැත්වූ අතර දරුවන් කණ්ඩායම්වලට බෙදා කඳවුර පිළිබඳව පැහැදිලි කිරීමක් සිදුකරන ලදී. ඉන්  අනතුරුව දරුවන් විවෘත ක්‍රියාකාරකම් කිහිපයකට එක් විය. එහිදී ඔවුන් කඳවුරු බැනරයන් පිංතාරු කිරීම, කැරෝකේ ගීත ගායනා කිරීම සහ කඳවුරු ක්‍රීඩා මුල්ලෙහි සූදානම් කර තිබූ ක්‍රීඩා සඳහා සම්බන්ධවීම සිදුකෙරිණ. සන්සධ්‍යාවේ දී දරුවන් පමුණුගම තරුණ ක්‍රිස්තියානි සංගමයේ සභාපති අජිත් හෙට්ටිආච්චි මහතා විසින් නායකත්ඟිවය ලබා දුන් කඳවුරු ගීත සැසියකට සහභාගි වීමෙන් අනතුරුව චිත්‍රපටයක් නරඹන ලදී.

2 වන දනය – අගෝස්තු 9

දවස ආරම්භ වූයේ උදේ රැලිය සහ සේවා කාර්යයන් වේ සිදු කිරීමත් සමඟින. පසුව, දරුවන් සේද උයන වෙත පාගමනින් සහ බෝට්ටුවෙන් සංචාරයක නිරත විය. කණ්ඩායම් දෙකක් ලෙස ඔවුන් මෙම පා ගමනට එක් වූ අතර පළමුවෙන්ම බෝට්ටුවෙන් ගමන්ගත් කණ්ඩායමක් නැවත පැමිණීමේ දී පා ගමනින් පැමිණි අතර පාගමනින් ගිය කණ්ඩායමක් බෝට්ටුවෙන් නැවත කඳවුරු භූමිය වෙත ළඟාවෙන ලදී. මේ අතර මාකලෝසා සිහින පාසලේ දරුවෝ කඳවුරු භූමිය අසල පිහිටි අමලූනා හෝටලයේ පිහිනුම් තටාකයයේ විනෝදයෙන් කාලය ගත කළහ. දිවා ආහාරය පසු, විනෝද ක්‍රීඩා සැසියක්  පැවැත්විණි. එදින සවස් වරුවේ දරුවන් ගිනි මැල සංදර්ශනයකට එක්වමින් තම තමන්ගේ හැකියාවන් ඉදිරිපත් කළ අතර නායක නායිකාවන් විසින් ද දරුවන් සතුටු කරමින් ක්‍රියාකාරකම් කිහිපයක් සිදුකරන ලදී

3 වන දිනය – අගෝස්තු 10

අවසාන දිනය ආරම්භ වූයේ උදෑසන රැලිය සහ ආහාරය සඳහා දරුවන් විසින්ම රොටී සකස්කර ගැනීමෙනි. ඉන් අනතුරුව දරුවන් කණ්ඩායම් තුනකට බෙදී දේව වචනය අධ්‍යයනය කළ අතර ඔවුන් උගත් දේව වචනයේ තිබූ කොටස රඟදක්වමින් අනෙක් කණ්ඩායම් සමග බෙදා ගන්නා ලදී. ඉන් අනතුරුව කාලය වෙන් කරනු ලැබූයේ කඳවුරු භූමිය පිරිසිදු කිරීමටය. ඉන් පසු දිවා ආහාරය ලබා ගැනීමෙන් අනතුරුව කණ්ඩායම් හැඟීම ප්‍රවර්ධනය වන ආකාරයේ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් හතරකට දරුවන් සහභාගි වූයේ කඳවුරේ සිටි නායක නායිකාවන්ගේ සහයෝගය යටතේය. කඳවුරු අවසානයේදී අවසාන රැළිය පැවැති අතර එකිනෙකාට සුබ පතමින් විසිර යන ලදිී 

තුන්වන දිනයේ පින්තූර සඳහා ක්ලික් කරන්න

මෙම කඳවුරේදී සියළු දරු දැරියන් ආහාර සූදානම් කිරීම, පිරිසිදු කිරීම, සංචාරය, ක්‍රීඩා සහ අනෙකුත් සියළු ක්‍රියාකාරකම් සමඟ සහභාගී වීම තුළින් අබාධ සහිත ප්‍රජාව අන්තර්කරණය කිරීම පිළිබඳව ප්‍රායෝගිකව අත්දැකීමක් ලබාගත් අතර ආකල්පමය වෙනසක් කරා පුහුණුවීමක් ලබන ලදි. සහභාගීවූ සියළු දෙනා නව මිතුරන්, වැඩි ආත්මවිශ්වාසයක් සහ එක්ව අත්නොහැර යන්නේ සත්‍ය අර්ථය පිළිබඳ වැඩි අවබෝධයක් ලබා ගත්හ.

Leaving No One Behind – YMCA Children’s Camp 2025

From 8 to 10 August 2025, the YMCA of Pamunugama hosted the “Leaving No One Behind” Children’s Camp with the participation of 22 Scouts and 8 Makalause Scouts (children with disabilities). 10 Youth leaders, 5 staff, and 3 parents supported the programme, which focused on teamwork, inclusion, and shared participation in all activities.

Day 1 – 8 August

The camp began with setting up tents and preparing lunch. The opening rally brought all participants together, followed by free-time activities such as painting the camp banner, playing carrom and draughts, tossing frisbees, and karaoke. Campers also engaged in chores including cleaning and preparing the wall newspaper. In the evening, participants had dinner, joined a camp song session led by Ajith Hettiatachchi, and enjoyed a movie screening.

Day 2 – 9 August

The day began with a rally and chores. Participants then took part in a hike to Seda Uyana, divided into two groups: one group travelled by boat while the other walked. On the return journey, the groups exchanged routes, with the walking group returning by boat and the boating group walking back. Meanwhile the Scouts of Makalause went for a swimming session at Amaluna Resort and enjoyed the morning session. After lunch, a game party was held, followed by evening chores and a campfire with dancing and music.

Day 3 – 10 August

The final day began with the morning rally and breakfast, where participants prepared fresh roti together. The programme included Bible study, a sharing session, and a Bible drama presentation. Team-building activities and campsite cleaning followed before the closing session.

A Camp of Inclusion and Friendship

The camp promoted inclusion by ensuring Scouts of all abilities participated equally in cooking, cleaning, hiking, games, and other activities. Participants left with new friendships, improved confidence, and a greater understanding of belonging.
