Makalause Dream School Activities

Children of the Makalause Dream School (School foe Specially Abled Children) are engaged in different activities in order to be trained to become self reliance in their day today lives. 

Art and craft, music and physica and psychological activities are among what they engaged daily in the school. Today a Catholic non (Sis. Patric) from a neighboring convent visited the school to sing and pray together.

YMCA of Pamunugama together with Y Global of Norway and the local partner, YMCA/YWCA Scouts of Bronnoysund of Norway are running the project together.

Guide's and Scout's activities on weekends

Guides and Scouts had their weekly meeting on 19. 01. 2019. Scouts had several group activities and preparations for their second level badge. 

They also started to work for Asker Pamunugama friendship badge at the meeting. To win this badge they have to complete several tasks including, making a presentation on Norway and the YMCA YWCA Scouts in Asker in Norway. 

Guides had a special cooking test which is a basic qualification for the second class badge. Deputy Commissioner for Western Province Guides Association Sister Mary Patricia inspected the cooking activity.

Community Guiding Training

Girls Guides Association conducted a training for new leaders of the Community Guiding Groups. 12 leaders including 5 catholic nuns attended the training held from 18 - 20 January, 2019 at the YMCA of Pamunugama premises. Community Guiding is a new concept introduced by the Girl Guides Association of Sri Lanka to promote more social activities among guides once they become adults.

Visit of Bronnoysund Scout Leaders

Time with Makalause Dream School Students

Kirsten Østergård and Jens Kristian Østergård together with their son Karl Anders are on a visit to Sri Lanka from 29. 12. 2018 till 14. 01. 2019. During the first five days of their visit they stationed in Pamunugama.

While staying in Pamunugama, they had several meetings with friends and members of Pamunugama YMCA both official and unofficial. Visitors met with the Makalause Dream Task Committee of the YMCA of Pamunugama at its premises on 30 Dec 2018 to discuss the development of the Makalause Dream School run by the YMCA of Pamunugama in Delathura together with Bronnoysund Scouts with the support of Y Global of Norway. Several important matters were discussed and arrived at understandings to move forward with the project. Aruna, Ridma, Shelton and Nimantha of Pamunugama YMCA and the delegates from Bronnoysund attended the meeting. On 02 January, 2019 they visited the Makalause Dream School which now runs with full capacity of 15 students.  During this visit, Bronnoysund Scout Leaders met students, two teachers and parents. They also shared their experiences and spent sometime singing and enjoying the dancing talents of the students. Karl Anders also led few songs both in Sinhala and English including his favorite "Suranganita Malu Genawa".

In between official meetings and discussions there were enough time to relax for the visitors. First two days they were residing at Nico Lagoon Hotel. They attended the New Year Mid Night Service together with Ridma's family and celebrated with cake and coffee afterwards at Green Banks where they were accommodated for the last two days. Visitors also enjoyed a sea bath and has some meals with friends and members of the YMCA.
