Youth from Pamunugama and Negombo YMCAs Climb Adam’s Peak

A group of 8 youth from Pamunugama YMCA and 11 from Negombo YMCA went on an adventurous hike to Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada) from 10th to 12th July 2025.

They started their journey by train to Hatton, and then travelled to Nallathanniya. Since it was the off-season, they got special permission from the police to climb the mountain. They took the Nallathanniya route and reached the top in the afternoon, enjoying the misty air and beautiful views.

Instead of returning the same way, they climbed down the other side towards Kuruvita. As it got dark, they stayed overnight at an Ambalama. It was a cold night, but also a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

The next morning, they continued their descent and reached the Kuruvita Camp Site, managed by the Adavikanda Management Committee, where YMCA is a partner. After resting there, they returned home the next day.

The hike was a great opportunity to enjoy nature, make new friends, and build stronger bonds between the two YMCAs. It was a true YMCA experience—full of adventure, learning, and friendship.
